Now don't shoot me, but... I was reading some of the archives when Ray was aboard, and I started thinking of another possibility, as fantastic as it may sound. What if William Borden, in his paranoid schizophrenic mind was not Andrew's son, but deluded himself into thinking he was? He could have been stalking the family, jumping over fences at night and hiding in barns, etc. If he approached them finally, on that day, and had the door slammed in his face that morning by Lizzie, and then, around 10:30 am somehow approached Andrew, only to have Andrew say he was a danged fool and to get out of his face, he could have gone over the top and committed murder. Many stalkers do that when they have been rejected. Not a theory, just a fantasy. OK, I'll run for the hills now.

If that was the case then probably only Andrew and or Abby would have known about it. If Lizzie knew, she would have mentioned it to help her defense, unless she had something to hide.

Interesting thought, Angel. Something to chew on.

Of course the same problems exist for anyone to come in from the outside and commit both crimes. There is such a multitude of them that they are difficult, if not impossible, to overcome.

I agree, he would have to arrive in time to kill Abby, then later kill Andrew, while hiding from and avoiding killing Lizzie and Bridget in between. The number of hatchet blows suggest a lack of self control while hiding and avoiding Lizzie and Bridget suggest extraordinary self control. I still come back to the same question with an intruder concept, why leave Lizzie alive? Don't let me discourage you Angel, it doesn't hurt anything to suggest new ideas once in a while!!

I think that is a possibility but I think the problems he would have had to go through, like hiding between killings and escaping unseen, would have made it nearly impossible for him or any one else to commit these crimes without inside help. If Lizzie had helped her brother then I think Lizzie would have told the Court that she had helped him but did not do any killing. That may have saved her neck. But if Lizzie did the killings herself and tried to implicate her brother as the killer then the facts proving him innocent could have come out in the trial and made Lizzie look guilty.

I personally think Lizzie did the killings and kept her mouth shut, as far as blaming anyone else, and that forced the Court to prove her guilty which of course they couldn't. I think Lizzie was smart enough not to create stories that could blow up in her face and put a noose around her own neck. As it was her explainations for her where abouts at different times kept changing and that was bad enough. In my mind that shows me that Lizzie was hiding something.

I can't get the idea out of my head that maybe Lizzie talked a "gentleman friend" into killing her parents with the promise of maybe sharing the money and then renaged. Or getting William to do the killing with the same promise. Neither one could come out later and cry to the cops that they got ripped off. Of course what would keep them from later planting a hatchet in Lizzie's head? Is it possible that Lizzie did pay off the killer when she got out? I would love to see Lizzie's bank records.
