Is it true that Lizzie was still a Sunday school teacher at the time of the murders, or was that some time earlier? If, as of Aug. 4, she still had these duties every Sunday, I would think she was replaced after the murders-- or no?

At the time of the murders she was not a Sunday School teacher. This is from the Boston Globe of August 6th:

"... The Congregational church is a great missionary institution, doing a great work among the mill operatives.
They have a special Sunday school for this class and Lizzie applied for a position as instructor.
She was given a class of rough, untutored boys and labored with them until her courage was almost gone, and then she was given some girls to teach.
Also connected with the church is a Chinese Sunday school and Miss Lizzie took one of the men to instruct. She had good success and her pupil has since left Fall River. ..."

Later in the same article:

"...When she went to Europe she necessarily gave up her class in Sunday school, and did not resume it upon her return. She continued, however, to attend church regularly, ...."

She went to Europe on June 21, 1890 and returned November 1, 1890.

Who was Lizzie's minister?

The Rev. J. Walker Jubb, was pastor of the Central Congregational church where Lizzie attended.

The Rev. E. A. Buck was the City Missionary. He made the following statement in the Fall River Herald of Sept. 1, 1892:

"The Rev. E. A. Buck speaking of the result of the hearing, said: "I have been this girl 's spiritual counsellor for 20 years, and have always esteemed her highly, and I have to say that my intercourse with her since this affair has tended to raise her infinitely in that esteem. She is as innocent as the day she was born."

I had read that Lizzie had trouble with the class and so complained to someone, who gave her a class of girls and Lizzie then did fine as a teacher. (I am sorry, but I cannot remember where I read it.)

And yet another Lizzie myth is undone - Not long ago, everyone was saying that Lizzie was teaching a whole class of Chinese in Sunday school, and here it was just one man.

BTW, I was reading in the trial testimony (Emma's I believe) that tho Alice Russell did go to the same church as Lizzie they did not participate in any church work together. (Just thought I'd throw that in.)
