New Lizzie Borden Letter found

Post by Stefani »

A new and unknown Lizzie Borden letter has been discovered by Stefani Koorey (that’s me!), tucked away in an Historical Society’s archive located outside of Boston, MA.

The letter may prove significant, not only because it possibly refers to a significant event in her life, but in view of the fact that Lizzie Borden letters are as rare as can be. At last count, there are but five letters, one letter fragment, and two notes that have come to light.

You can read all about it in the new issue of The Hatchet. ONLY $15 for all three 2009 online issues!

Boy, talk about Stefani Koorey, Girl Detective...well done! You have found more Borden artifacts in the last few years than have appeared in the last fifty (at least!). You are like the Energizer Bunny--keep up the good work!

Great article, great find, Stef! I've always felt that there was "more" to the Tilden-Thurber affair than the published accounts. I know there was a Thurber family that lived near the Vinnicums in Swansea and always felt there was either some kind of insider's knowledge about a back-story in Thurber's accusation against Lizzie or some kind of personal revenge going on.

This letter about the porcelain has really piqued my interest (and curiosity).

Great work!

Yes, up until now, that is until the upcoming and long awaited narrative PARALLEL LIVES come out later this year, very little is known about the private life of Lizzie Andrew Borden.

Sure, there's a lot out there. Most of it is from those who "think" they know.

Much of it is conjecture.

When it comes to life at Maplecorft, rumors and hearsay has become the tainted truth.

So, when an unknown Lizzie item is discovered it becomes big news to Borden Scholars. Though such news is minor or no-go story anywhere else, if Fall River it always makes for great telling. Especially to those who strive to climb into Lizzie's brain and private everyday life....to discover who this women was and what made her tick.

Thus, a story such as this, about a small item, a short letter, is of great interest and great fun to discover.......at least in fall river. Fall river Herald news realizes that fact and prints a great story about the find.

Great little item Stefani....

Not like Columbus discovering America. But a lot more important than finding Waldo.

Oh yeah, and about Parallel Lives. You wait. Taking this letter into account, "you haven't seen notin yet."

Great article.

Anyone read the comments by "Phaye" at the end of the article....you'd think by now she'd get tired of making a rear-end out of herself!
