"Haunted Encounters"

This is a new program, on the Biography Channel, that premiered last night.
There's a paranormal investigative team, two (maybe three) men and two women, plus a female psychic and a dog!
However, the dog did not visit No. 92-- it could have drawn the spirit of Lizzie and perhaps riled the spirit of Andrew!
Anyway, some flaws, the most glaring of which was the voice-over narrator kept referring to No. 92 as a farmhouse in Fall River. Huh? Also, Bridget and JVM were never mentioned.
However-- the EVPs were phenomenal. If they're real, they're really something-- including an ID by "Abby"!
Also, an incredible pic of her supposed ghost!
These people had sophisticated equipment out the wazoo.
Sorry I didn't give a head's up-- I just happened to stumble across this in scrolling through program options last night (Friday, Nov. 30th). The show received back-to-back airings, so look for it again, soon.
Well worth a view.

I wasn't crazy about it myself.
I didn't like them referring to Abby EVERY TIME by her maiden name.
That house is smack dab in the middle of town. (farm house)
I get sick of these 'ghost hunter' shows where they all act terrified and swear every 2 minutes. Isn't this their 'job'? If I was down at Mcd's I would not expect to hear someone in the kitchen shouting 'here's your beeping big mac' etc-- or see a vegetarian there handling meat and being all disgusted or afraid of it.
Not to mention-- the very idea of going in under the preconceived idea Lizzie did it-- oh-- and in thee EVP 'print out' they spelled 'Lizzy' wrong.

Yes:
The "farm house" thing was a hoot. Where in the world did they come up with that.
Another thing, if I'm not mistaken, is that they say that the sofa was the actual "sofa" where Andrew was killed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But, the one that got me was the image they used of the NEWSPAPER. The Boston Globe. The photo they used is mine. I put it together. That's not the way it looked in the Globe. The story was not on the front page. I took the header of the paper with the words Boston Globe and I superimposed onto the page which carried the story. They actually stole my photo from someplace, probably from here. I had taken that photograph and sent it to Stefani Koorey, since it was all about her.
So, I guess my fingerprint is on that issue of Haunted Encounters.

Yes they did say it was the actual sofa.....
I maintain my opinion that the B&B owners need to demand some sort of approval on these shows-- otherwise, it's just free publicity for them.

Total agreement, Aamartin!
The thing that irritates me about all such paranormal programs is that the "researchers" invariably end up having some sort of frightening experience, at which they (bleep-out) curse, and then generally depart the room or area in question.
OK-- that's why you're there, and what do you expect, if not to be shaken up? You get your dadgum behind back in that room and see what happens! On this program, it was the woman in the guest bedroom. Phenomenal things were supposedly occurring, and she wimped out.
I say, "Suck it up, hon! That's your bleepin' job! What if you missed out capturing an apparition on camera?"
Anyway, this program was especially notable for its "I'm so nauseous" re-enactments by the tour guides.
I believe, in both instances, I would have headed for the bathroom, considering there was one a few feet away. :)

I find it odd that spooks are only available after dark, and they always understand English.

That's funny Yooper.
What I find humorous is that when these people died they took their clothes with them. I never realized that when you passed on and walked towards the "light" that you were fully clothed. And, so many of these people are so angry or evil. And if you lose a limb at 20 and die at 60, do you meet up with your limb in the afterworld?
I love the British ghost shows. The ghost are always throwing things around. Must be a European thing.

I'm glad I missed the show! Sounds like it wasn't very good. But, I have found with alot of these shows, they are inaccurate and just right out wrong. It's interesting to watch just see what they get right and what they get wrong.

I got halfway through it and decided it was pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, most of the time those shows are pretty ridiculous. And most of the time, the information isn't right. I wish these shows would get the information right, you know investigate the facts out. Make sure what is going on the show is right.

Yes:
You bet snokkums.
If they did get the information right, or as you say, investigate the facts out, they would have nothing to report, no tv show.
The need for those who do not practice any faith or carry around any religious convections is so great that the idea of an afterlife guarantees the sponsors of HAUNTED ENCOUNTERS a pledged audience.

Yup, I don't believe in things that go "bump in the night". Although I believe in a God, I have to see the ghost. But I do like to watch those shows just to see how wrong they are.

Yes:
That's true snokkums. Some of those ghost programs are fun to watch. Entertainment, like watching a magician—you know it's not true but it's fun to watch.
Now I have lived in fall river (small f small r ) all my life. There was never any talk, rumors, or stories about 92 Second Street being haunted. All of a sudden, in the past couple of years it has become the most haunted house in America.
But, let us say that there are hauntings.
I subscribe to the idea that it is people who are haunted, not places.

I thought the show was ridiculous. I have actually not seen a single one of these so called ghost hunting shows that I did not think was an utter farce. Scratch that. Most any show I've seen has gotten it wrong, wrong, wrong. I think the things that got me the most about this show in particular were already mentioned, the house being tagged as a farm house, the couch being the actual couch, and etc. These shows are not interested in facts. They are interested in ratings. There have been some instances I wish the people at the B&B would take time to present the actual facts of the case. After all that is their job to know these things to present it for the public. I've seen some tours online that made me cringe with the way the tour guides described things. I have seen things described as facts which there is no way to know as fact, or that people simply assume as facts, and this is for public consumption on a day to day basis. What? If the people at the B&B are not interested in presenting only the true known facts, how are the people taping shows there going to it right? Because if you work there, and you are presenting something to the public, they are going to eat it up as the gospel. If you're going to present it I say learn it. Live it, love it, learn it as they say.

A big WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! I just wish they would check their facts before going ahead with the show. I've even seen a show ( think it was called Haunted New England) that had the LIzzie Borden B&B on it saying it was haunted. Even had some of the guests who had stayed there saying they felt the place was haunted!

I am very into the paranormal. But I am what you call a skeptical believer. I believe ghosts exist, and I have dabbled in ghost hunting, but I do not believe that every sound, every shadow, etc etc are paranormal. Rule out the other explanations. If you are looking for real proof isn't real the operative word? There are ghost shows I enjoy watching but most just irk the crap out of me. The ones where conveniently nothing that happens is ever on camera, every noise is considered paranormal, they scream and curse like idiots, over react to everything, and just basically remind me of a comedy act. The ones where you think even if they hear nothing the reaction would be, "Oh my God, did you hear all that nothing? The ghosts are keeping all the sounds from reaching my ears, those evil bastards. The fact that I hear nothing is only proof they are really here." Come on people. You take something I have real interest in and turn it into a joke for ratings. I'm going to say the noises they hear many times are rodents. It happens. I have gone ghost hunting, and I also like exploring old abandoned buildings. I have been chased out of some places because we heard the scurry of furry little feet. I am gone. I fear furry little things in the dark way more than ghosts.

OK I finished the show with my 10 year old daughter and it was creepily produced but seems phony. What is the magic pandora thingy that can record ghost voices?? Seems like that would make the news if it was real. Do they realize that there is a cat in the house? The ghostly "handprints" on the bed were probably where the kitty was laying. That Jordan girl should get an award for best horror performance...eeek a mouse!! lol...I really hate when they claim molestation when there is ZERO evidence of it. It is such a slander against a man who cannot defend himself. What a joke, Lizzie and her father had a very good relationship from what I have read. He is portrayed as miserly, yet he sent her on the "Grand Tour" of Europe even wiring her extra money, he had steam heat and running water installed. He gets such an unfair screwing of his reputation in the media he was probably the one "screaming" on the magic EVPs...What the hell is an EVP anyway and that stupid antenna thing come on. I have a magic ghost detector i can sell you.

Sometimes, I think they have someone standing in another room making "ghost"noises so the show can claim that the house is haunted!

I agree. I believe a lot of this stuff is staged. Maybe some of these people believe their over the top reactions to these alleged paranormal events will distract the viewer from realizing they are being duped.

watched last night. It seemed very faked. I did catch something. They had the camera following one of the guys up on the third floor. The night table was by the bed. Next thing, the guy is yelling to the other guys that the drawer in the night stand is open. Only thing is, while they kept panning across the room, the thing was closed, then all of the sudden it's, open. It happened all to quick for me. And eveyone one of the guys was in the picture, except for split second, then all of the sudden, the drawer was open. How convinant(SP).LOL!

perhaps we should dismiss any and all programs that pursue this ridiculous "haunted" angle. The only beneficiary of such nonsense talk would be whoever owns the B&B so they can book more loony tune customers who want to hear a scream in the night. It has nothing at all to do with a serious discussion of the crimes, the case, or the history involved.

Haunted TV (not really haunted) along with Reality TV (not really real) drive me crazy. Its all bunk. I used to enjoy Operation Repo until I found out its completely fake. Then I liked Storage Wars, but that turns out to be phony too. Even "Pawn Stars" and HardCore Pawn" are staged. My TV watching has dwindled to "The McLaughlin Group" and "Walking Dead" along with "Boardwalk Empire".
Sorry for the rant I've gone completely off topic!

I think that you are right. I think all of the stuf is staged. They really don't check into the facts. That's the reason like people like us can rip these shows apart. We know better. We have the information. Just my take on the situation.
