A internet post on Lizzie Borden, dated July 24, 2014, reads in part ".....now deceased Harry Widdoes...". PLEASE forgive me if I am spreading gossip, but is this OUR Harry? Heaven forbid.

Yes, it is OUR Harry. I sent a PM to Stefani earlier this week, after I read about his passing on Mondo Lizzie Borden, while doing some research regarding a totally different subject. She was going to submit a post about his passing on the forum but hasn't done so yet.

Here is the Mondo Lizzie Borden link:

Words cannot express the deep sadness I feel. He was a true-blue 'forum friend', who was loved and respected by all of us.

I didn't know him as you earlier members of the forum did, but I am so sorry to hear this news. RIP, Harry.

I also read this. As I read old forum topics I so enjoy the things Harry wrote. He will be missed.

I didn't know Harry either but his signature says a lot, "I know I ask perfection of a quite imperfect world, And fool enough to think that's what I'll find" ...which is from The Carpenter's I Need to Be In Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTVpNXG7iBk

I had not met Harry in person, but I know from his postings on the Forum that he was always a true gentleman and more than willing to share the knowledge he had obtained throughout his years of studying the Borden Case. He was a true-blue 'forum friend', who was loved and respected by all of the forum members. I will always cherish the friendship that was formed between us on this forum. I feel truly blessed having had him as a 'forum friend'. He truly was an impressive human being. May he rest in peace.

Folks at this time, I choose to leave the forum. I have lost a friend, dear to my heart. You take care of each other. God Bless.

BOBO: As experts pass away it is up to those left here to continue the work. It is the work that counts. If we ever solve some of these historic mysteries it will be a group accomplishment for we build on work of those who have gone before. It is time to remember what we most admire about Harry's life and work and emulate those sterling qualities. Please stay.

BOBO, I know your heart is broken due to losing Harry, but he would NOT want to see you leave like this. He would want you to stay and learn from all of the knowledge he had obtained throughout the years he studied and wrote about the Borden Case. He certainly wasn't a quitter.

Debbie is right, if you leave, the rest of us are losing two friends. Do we really deserve to have our hearts broken twice?

Please stay, if not for us, then for Harry's sake.

Please please Bobo, reconsider and stay! We must all work together as a team and support each other as colleagues on the track of the Borden mystery and as friends. We need you!

In my life, I tend to obsess over a topic for a while then move on. Lizzie Borden is one topic which I have stayed with for a long time. I have been a watcher of this forum for a year and a half, and a posting-member almost as long. Harry helped me learn much in that time. He will be missed.

Another vote for Bobo to stay. I just came back on after 10 years. Coming back to the Forum is a way for me to share in my grief of losing my dear friend, Harry. And I just found out this summer that a beloved cousin of mine had died last Xmas Eve and I hadn't known it. I think this is a good place to grieve, under certain threads. Many of us are feeling the same way, some more than others. Look at all the books Harry worked on with Kat & Stef - source documents such as the Trial, the Preliminary Hearing, others not largely circulated. And the work he did for The Hatchet! It was Harry who first found the info in one of the first Hatchets about there being an FBI file on Lizzie, and I remember they didn't wanna give it to him, and he hung in there under the Freedom of Information Act. It was while talking on the phone to him just hours before the first Hatchet came out that I was kidding with him about "What if the cops really grilled Bridget? Would she have broken?" And I started talking about it so that I had to go so I could write it up. Stef got it just in time that it made the first issue, and it was called "Badgering Bridget", if anyone remembers that. Who would I call when my computer acted up? Harry. Who would have such patience with me - computer no-nothing as I am - and talk me patiently thru step by step. Harry. Who called my little boy when I was mad over something and stupidly mentioned to Harry I was gonna get off the phone and take a LOT of pills? Harry. Who would worry when he didn't hear from me for a day? And vice-versa? Harry - and me. He was a prince. A true gentleman. So much fun. And a Liz Whiz. He loved a lot of us here. I agree - I think he would have wanted this Forum to continue. I hurt a lot, Bobo. I think by staying, we can all of us help one another help ease the hurt in time.
