I looked at other ax murders. Most of them are unsolved and seem to involve serial killers. But there's one case I found where a young man, Henry Lee Moore, killed his mother and grandmother with an ax. He then went back to the hotel he was staying to clean up. But when police finally caught up to him, there was blood on the hotel sheets and blood on his body. This is a messy, messy crime. When arteries are severed, they shoot pressurized blood. When pools of blood are smashed by a blade, blood splatters in all directions. And blood is very hard to clean up.

It's hard to do a scientific experiment to demonstrate because you can't recreate the arterial blood flow. But you can look at similar cases, and the blood is substantial.

Also, people cite the number of "whacks" against Andrew and Abby as evidence against Lizzie because it displays emotion and rage. So the crime must be personal, not a stranger. However, looking at other ex murders, this is the norm for this kind of serial killer. The killer strikes the victims many times. Blood splatters, flesh flies and even brains are found on walls.
