Lizbeth: A Victorian Nightmare

Filmmaker Ric Rebelo has completed his film about Lizzie Borden titled Lizbeth: A Victorian Nightmare, and soon it will premiere on Rhode Island PBS.

October 30 and 31 at 7PM.

On August 4th 1892 a brutal double murder occurred in the New England town of Fall River Massachusetts. A rich Victorian city which held some of the wealthiest people in America. Over One Hundred years later the crime is still one of the most infamous in history. The woman at the center of the crime has become one of the most infamoous personalities in American history, her name: Lizzie Borden.

Lizbeth: A Victorian Nightmare is a documentary film about the legend and lore of Lizzie Borden. A woman who was once accused but aquited of the crime of killing her father and stepmother. The documentary looks not only at the facts of the murder but at the popularity of the crime and the interest people have in it which has been sustained for over One hundred years

Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.
