Lizzie Borden Video Projections by Zoe Woodworth

The showcase production of Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt’s rock musical, Lizzie Borden, featured two secondary projection screens stage left and right. In keeping with the Victorian theme, these projections were designed to look like shadow puppets lit by candlelight.

These are those projections. Really cool stuff!

BTW: the show ROCKED!

Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt created a rock roadshow retelling of the bloody legend of America’s first and favorite axe-wielding double-murderess and Victorian hometown girl, Lizzie Borden. I created video projections for two incarnations of the musical. The showcase production featured a large, circular projection screen, intended to mimic the look and feel of an old Victorian “magic lantern.”

This short projection, based on the photographs of Étienne-Jules Marey, was projected in the showcase production of Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt’s rock musical, Lizzie Borden. Birds and flight were a recurring theme in the piece.

Mondo Lizzie Borden, Episode 7: NOT Lizzie Borden

Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.
