“Introducing Miss Lizzie Borden of Fall River, Massachusetts, a most excellent girl detective and the most remarkable young woman ever to take on the criminal underworld in late 19th century New England. In these five early tales of mystery and adventure, Lizzie Borden is joined by her stubborn and stingy father Andrew; her jealous and weak-chinned sister Emma; her trusted companion Homer Thesinger the Boy Inventor; and the melancholy French scion Andre De Camp. And for that extra special someone, you can purchase, from me, a first edition Edwin Porter! The Fall River Tragedy, 1983.

Lizzie Borden, The Fall River Tragedy A History of the Borden Murders, by Edwin H. Porter, First edition, 1893, Munroe Press, Fall River, Massachusetts.

This is not the reprint but in fact the original 1893 first edition printing. Book is in Good condition. Binding has been re-backed with new end-papers. Text is yellowed with age, as is common with this edition. Page 139 has a 5 inch long old tape repair. Page 283 has a couple of small notations in pen at edge of page. Otherwise this is quite an acceptable copy of a book that is very scarce and difficult to find in good condition.

The last original Porter on abebooks.com sold for over $1,000. The reprint of this book is for sale on the same website for $100.

Get your true crime, Fall River, or Lizzie Borden aficionado the gift they will never forget!

NOTE: A myth surrounds this book that Lizzie Borden bought up all the copies and had them destroyed. However, this has not been proven. A rare find, nonetheless.

Price is $725, with free 2nd day shipping provided. Payment by PayPal. Contact me through this blog to purchase today!

Mondo Lizzie Borden, Episode 7: NOT Lizzie Borden

Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.

Here we go. Enjoy.
