Christina Ricci as Lizzie Borden.

Lizzie Borden Chronicles on Lifetime

The trailer is out for the new now 8-episode series about Lizzie Borden titled The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. It used to be called, I think, the Fall River Chronicles, but it seems they changed this.

It is fiction, of course. Lizzie becomes a bit of a serial killer it seems.

According to Entertainment Weekly:

“Lizzie Borden is coming back swinging (an ax).

Lifetime has just ordered an additional two episodes of The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, in which Christina Ricci reprises her role as the infamous real-life murder suspect, who was acquitted of the double homicide of her father and stepmother in 1892—which was depicted in last year’s original movie Lizzie Borden Took An Ax.

While the film was inspired by real-life events, the series will take certain creative liberties, which draw from the mysterious events surrounding the deaths of those close to Borden in the years after her acquittal.

‘It’s an imagining of what could’ve happened,’ Ricci told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s winter TV previews. ‘There are no limits of behavior. There are no rules. It’s the ultimate playing a fantasy.’

Adds director Stephen Kay: ‘It’s what would happen if you let this woman loose on a community.'”
