Very Scarce 1893 first edition hardcover measuring 9 1/2″ x 6 1/4″ in dark blue cloth boards with 312 pages.Authored by Edwin Porter a police reporter of the Fall River Globe this book tells the story of the infamous murder of Lizzie Borden’s parents & the trial that followed.Ms.Borden was said to have gathered up as many of this title as she could find & destroyed them.There are thought to be approx 50 copies in existence.This book has had the binding professionally repaired & is in sound intact condition.The front pastedown has a previous owner’s bookplate attached.The front endpaper & title page show some taping done during the repair.The contents are clean with some foxing & a slight musty odor.The gold gilt lettering on the front board is somewhat faded & is not visible on the spine.Digital pictures can be provided upon request. Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.
