USStamps.com Deems Lizzie a “Notorious Figure”

For the last year, I have had for sale through my CafePress Lizzie Borden sale site a set of US Postage stamps I designed for those interested in all things Lizzie. I thought them in good taste and got many compliments on them. They are in the style of Andy Warhol.

Today, CafePress wrote me a nice note. Here is the text:

Thank you for using CafePress.com! Unfortunately we have removed some of the products from your shop. Please be advised that Stamps.com does not allow images depicting notorious figures and/or criminals. Accordingly, your stamps section containing Lizzie Borden has been removed. Please feel free to visit the Stamps.com webpage to view the Terms and Conditions for further information.

If you have any quetsions or concerns, please let us know.

So Lizzie is officially designated by Stamps.com as a “notorious figure and/or criminal”—-Just thought you should make a note of that!

Mondo Lizzie Borden, Episode 7: NOT Lizzie Borden

Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.
