Murder Recreation at the Bed and Breakfast
I've never been to the July recreations at the B&B. Can anyone who has describe what they do? And how difficult would it be to get reservations for next July?

I've visited the B&B only once, and that was in 1998. I must admit I've never heard of "July recreations," although that doesn't mean they don't take place. Since the B&B changed hands fairly recently, it would probably be a good idea to go to the B&B website and see what information is available there or give them a call. The people from the B&B do post here periodically, of course. I'm wondering why the recreations would take place in July when the murders occurred in August??? My lone visit took place at Halloween, which is considered a special time at the B&B, and I recall that we had to make reservations (for a two-night stay) months in advance. Let us know what you find out.

Hi! We do not offer July re-enactments. For now we are set to do them on Aug. 4th MAYBE the 3rd...
They have put the new siding on the house and will soon be painted a dark browning/green color. There's a new gas light for the lantern out in front, the door that used tolead into Leary in the kitchen has been removed and in it's spot will be two new windows, air conditioning is fixed (!) and construction of the barn is set to begin in the near future - hopefully the property will be fully "bordenized" in early spring.
TAPS (ghosthunters) came to the hosue to investigate - we are awaiting their report.......
That's all for now, bye!

Yes, the new siding is wood. The work crew had to replace all the clapboard across the back of the house and most of the south side. The original wood was disintergrating in their hands.
There is a new bulkhead on the back of the house made to match the original. The only thing that can not be changed are the windows on the first floor, across the back of the house. Because of the placement of the kitchen cabinets, the window has to remain over the sink (over the bulkhead). Shutters will be added to give the illusion of a window on the second floor (where the bath is in Andrew's room). As Ben mentioned, the door leading from the kitchen into Leary has been taken out and will be replaced by a window. I will also have the smaller window in the kitchen removed and that will also have a full length window.
After much research, we have chosen the new paint. Between Ed, Len and Shelley we have found our 'drab'. The house was power washed yesterday, they will begin scraping this week. The house will be painted in time for August 4th.
We will keep everyone updated as the work progresses.

"July Recreations"
Yes, I meant August. It was a typo. I know I should know better but I was at work and my boss was hovering over me and I was typing fast. Anyway, when I stayed there in 2003, I was told by the caretaker that I should really check out the August anniversary recreation because it's a lot of fun. I just wanted to know if any one here knew what happens (besides the obvious -- that someone dressed like Andrew Borden winds up dead on the couch!)
Yes, that's me on the couch in the avator photo. I couldn't resist it.

Murder Recreation at the bed and breakfast
Hi, Richard.
I know Martha (the previous owner of the B&B) would do activities on the anniversary of the murders, and they always used to have a Halloween party which was great. The only thing I knew of in July was they usually would throw a birthday party for Lizzie. I got a few invitations, but never went to the birthday parties.
I don't know what Lee-ann has planned for the B&B as far as parties go. I've been to the house mainly in August (for our anniversary and the Borden murder anniversary-I got married there) and October. I love how the house looks for the fall/Halloween season. Plus, I don't really care for hot weather so I try to take my vacations in September and October when things cool down and are comfortable.
I know reservations in August are tough, and I would think for July 19th too would be busy. Best thing is to book way in advance!
Take care!
Pam
