"10 lbs. In 3 Days?"

Post by Kat »

I watch too much "Mission Organization!"
I've been spending the last several days cleaning out junk paper.
When I am getting company I tend to clear off surfaces and store the clutter in a plastic grocery bag in the den. Then, of course, I forget to go thru it all and pretty soon there are 10 little grocery bags of junk mail along with bank statements etc.
(I don't know HOW I got my taxes done last year!)
Anyway, I also had to clear out a drawer in the filing cabinet! I never thought I would have to do that! Well, I found, in relation to nothing, and unknowing as to its source, a printed diet list which claims to make you shed 10 lbs. in 3 days. It's not somthing I've seen before, and I do not endorse it in any way, but it's interesting, so I willl post it here if anyone is brave enough to try it. BTW: If you have a medical condition- skip the whole thing!
Maybe it would be more useful After the Holidays?

(This all started because I thought I wanted a paper shredder for Christmas- but in the words of Stef- "use scissors."
So my hand is scissored-out today and I'm taking a break. I watched my neighbor shred stuff and it looks like it takes forever!)

Or... You can try this "French" secret... Which I have heard of before it came out in the 'French Women Don't Get Fat' book....

My Nanny made it every 'month' for herself....

Magical Leek Soup (Broth)

Serves 1 for the weekend

Ingredients

2 pounds leeks

1. Clean the leeks and rinse well to get rid of sand and soil. Cut off the ends of the dark green parts, leaving all the white parts plus a suggestion of pale green. (Reserve the extra greens for soup stock.)

2. Put the leeks in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes. Pour off the liquid and reserve. Place the leeks in a bowl.

The juice is to be drunk (reheated or at room temperature to taste) every 2 to 3 hours, 1 cup at a time. For meals, or whenever hungry, have some of the leeks themselves, 1/2 cup at a time. Drizzle with a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil and lemon juice. Season sparingly with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with chopped parsley if you wish.

This will be your nourishment for both days, until Sunday dinner, when you can have a small piece of meat or fish (4 to 6 ounces -- don't lose that scale yet!), with 2 vegetables, steamed with a bit of butter or olive oil, and a piece of fruit.

Kat--that diet has been around for a number of years, and yes, it does work. But you must follow it exactly because it is chemically balanced for the interactions of the foods and absorption of vitamins, minerals, etc.

I did it when I had a normal, scheduled routine throughout the week because you must eat the 3 meals a day as prescribed. It is difficult if you have an erratic lifestyle.

For me, I hate beets and also cauliflower, so those 2 items were tough for me. My favorite meal turned out to be dinner on Day 2 with the 2 hot dogs, broccoli and carrots, etc.

It's a safe and balanced diet which is an excellent way to start the new year. Good luck!

I figured it was old. That file cabinet had not been opened since 1993. :batman:

Thanks for the info!

I found out a long time ago, tho, that if I'm really really hungry I'll eat anything, and like it.

Here's a way to lose 5-10lbs in three days that us bodybuilders use. Eat nothing but tuna and water for three days. Its hard core and I don't recomend it for anyone who doesn't know what they are doing. It can get you into trouble.

The best way to get the fat off and KEEP it off is to focus on building muscle. Muscle burns fat for fuel. Cut back on the carbs a bit, increase the protein a tad and grab the weights. Fad and starvation diets don't work. Neither does sticking one's head in a toilet after dinner.

Want to know what the secret to losing weight is? The secret is there is no secret. If you would like to learn some good stuff about weight loss and exercise go here:

As an ex-bulemic...I know about the "after dinner purge"...not good.

I seem to have success with drinking LOTS of water...3-4 qts/day...and walking...a lot...10,000+ steps/day.

There's a hilarious diet plan in Steve Martin's first book, Cruel Shoes. I'd have to look it up to find it's exact wording, but I recall Day Two is, "a raisin."
I've met Kat and Harry and Stef, oh my!
(And Diana, Richard, nbcatlover, Doug Parkhurst and Marilou, Shelley, "Cemetery" Jeff, Nadzieja, kfactor, Barbara, JoAnne, Michael, Katrina and my 255 character limit is up.)

Tracy...

Way to go! Plenty of water and walking is the best things a person can do to keep themselves healthy. I recently heard that doctors are finding that many of the health problems people are having is the result of dehydration or in not drinking pure water. I drink a half gallon just during my 6:00AM exercise program and a gallon and a half during the rest of the day/evening.

I think the fashion media has a lot to answer for in their efforts to brain wash young girls into thinking they have to be a size 0 to be "with it." Women need more fat than men for their health. Exercise, proper attitude, proper eating habits and the guts to tell the fashion industry to go do you-know-what to itself are the keys to keeping the weight at the right level and staying healthy. Period.
