I found this picture on the Keeley Library Site. They have an abundance of historical pictures available which relate to Fall River. This picture can be found under the heading "Fall River and the Civil War".The people in this picture are numbered, and there are names corresponding with the numbers. The picture was taken in 1886. The person listed as #19 in the picture is Geo. W. Whitehead, above his name there is also a D, which I think indicates that he was deceased at the time the picture was donated which seems to have been sometime in 1947.
The picture is labeled "Squad picture and guests Com. M.V.M 1886." So I assume that some of the people in the picture were not actual veterans or members of the squad, but simply guests who were asked to be in the picture for whatever reason. The man listed as Geo. W. Whitehead is also not wearing a uniform. He is wearing a suit and tie and what appears to be a bowler hat, which lends to the idea he wasn't actually a member of the squad. Geo. W. Whitehead, according to Rebello on page 23, was born in 1861, and died in 1938. In 1886 he would've been 22 years old, and in 1947 he would have indeed been deceased.
What an interesting find. Thanks for posting it. The man certainly appears about the right age (25) and a pretty dapper dresser. Lizzie testified at the Inquest (p86):
"... She [Abby] did not care anything about the house herself. She wanted it so this half sister could have a home, because she had married a man that was not doing the best he could, and she thought her sister was having a very hard time and wanted her to have a home."
He did attend the funeral for the Bordens with his wife, Sarah.
A small correction to your post. He died in 1898 at the young age of 38, not in 1938. (Rebello 23)

And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

Thanks for making the correction Harry. I did look in Rebello for the information, but it got crossed somehow in the translation from what I read in the book to what I actually put in my post. There is a heck of a difference between 1938 and 1898, I don't know how I did that .Thanks. Thanks for posting the link for the photo Kat. I didn't resize it because I didn't know what it would do to the picture quality. But I guess if you can't see him the quality of the picture doesn't really make a difference .

At the bottom of the post (not the bottom of the photos) there should be a slide bar. If you slide that you should be able to see the other half of the photo.
