Dream Vacation

I've been feeling a little stressed lately. I have many things going on at once, and school assignments on top of all this. I NEED A VACATION. I'd like to leave tomorrow and go to: anywhere but here basically. Even though we still haven't had any real snow, I'm tired of winter and would like to go somewhere sunny and warm! I've been dreaming of summer, and of taking a nice vacation. I was just wondering what the favorite vacation spots of other members may be. If you could go anywhere, where would it be? What is your dream vacation?

I want to go this mythical place...I think it's somewhere in the midwest ? I have heard rumors that some lovely people live there. I believe it is called Maison Le M...something something...I think. I have heard tales of grand culinary delights...fine wines...and a pool ! Maybe if I am a very good girl, I will someday be able to visit this magical, mythical place...

My dream vacation would be Hawaii or Tahiti, or someplace tropical. But in reality, I usually go to Florida. Unless you have unlimited amounts of money, you usually go where you can afford and have a nice time. I have been to Jekyll Island, Georgia several times, and I have always had a wonderful time. It is on the coast, so you have your beach, it is private, good food, time to unwind and re-charge. Sometimes a vacation can be a very stressful, so I don't put emphasis on extravagants! The idea is to get away from the every day pressures of life. Just give me a quiet, serene beach, good food, shopping, and I am good to go.

Wow, 85, that sounds wonderful! We're getting warmer slowly but surely here, it was 69 degrees today. I went outside to eat my lunch today, it was lovely.

Sunday we're holding a memorial service and firing a cannon at Fort Phoenix for one of our colonial militia members who died in January. The forecast calling for temps in the 20s and windy.

Kat, I've heard that folks who brag about living in warm places often end up in a warm place for eternity. . .

or they should. . .

It has been cold here-- Below zero last weekend.. then snow... then a warmup.. But it is beoming colder again.

My ForecasyFox (A wonderful add-on to the wonderful browser Harry told us about) tells me it is 28F here right now...

i love south florida -- and i'm going next week. i have a favorite place there that is great enough that people from all over the world go there regularly, especially during winter months.

i do like new york city a great deal. and colorado in the summer.

my dream trip i haven't done, i think, if i have to be specific -- is italy, all of it by train, once i get there.

Hawaii....I'd love to go back. I spent 10 days there about 5 years ago, and it was beautiful. Lying under an umbrella on the beach with a frozen drink with a little umbrella and hunks of pineapple in it!!! Soft breeze blowing. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................

I stayed at Namale Plantations prior to Tony Robbins' ownership, but the place only seems to have gotten better. I fell in love with Savusavu. It was like heaven on earth. I spent 3 weeks in Fiji, and it wasn't enough.

I'll put in some plugs for Italy, too. I'd go back again in a heart beat!

Some favorites:

The Excelsior in Rome--great for shopping on the Via Veneto. And Rome, the city, is just great. The people are absolutely fabulous!

I love the Danieli in Venice, and of course, the Villa d'Este on Lake Como.

There are 3 great hotels in Positano, on the Amalfi Coast, but the architecture of Il San Pietro always amazes me.

I'm salivating, just thinking of Italy.

I've just had another person yearning for an Italian vacation- my neighbor.
That was 4 people in a row now, and counting Cynthia, that's 5!
That's just about everyone.

I'd like to go back to Fall River and also New Hampshire.

I always found it funny how people from this part of the country want to go some where else and people from there want to come here? I always wanted to move away for some place warm.

When I was younger, I had my long hair, my van, just got out of school and was ready to head out to California. Got side tracked somehow, thus, such are plans at times,and dreams just stay that, dreams.

But over the years anyone I have met from Califonia would want to live no where else.

If you are more of an Emma than a Lizzie, you could try a nice B&B on the Ness Bank in Inverness, Scotland. Lots of comfy accommodations, friendly pubs, nice people, and pretty scenery.

Wow nbcatlover, funny you should add that about Scotland.

Just last week I was in this machine looking up B&Bs in Scotland and Southern Ireland. I love the British people, spent much time in Wales years back when I was engaged to a Welsh girl. I almost moved there.

I remember it as a land of Green with hegerows and people with white and rosy cheeks. A place where the chill of it's enviroment was warmed by its people, who were kind and polite, and where life went slow.

Also a place where One could not find a good cup of coffee or a bad cup of tea. And I will always remember how loved and respected Yanks were. Older folk still appreciated what we did for them over 60 years ago. Loved it there and hope to return to the British countryside again, and most of all, hope that like many places here at home, that not much has changed.

In 2 days I've run up against:
2 Palmetto bugs in my house
A spider near my bedroom door
A wasp who came inside on my clothes and when I tried to brush it off it stung me between my fingers!
I had to kill them all!
Oh, and an ugly mole cricket tried to get into my garage while I was sitting outside in the 81 degree sun, and I had to move until it quit.
Spring means bugs.

But the birds are singing and mating and the crickets have awakened. You know winter's over when the crickets sing.

Of course I am sure that you understand and respect that these little creatures were here before us. But then again, once something bites you, you must kill it. Ha ha ha!!

When I find a bug in my house I try to catch it in a glass or container and put it out side. Of course if it's a bee you can usually catch me running around my house with a broom.

I would rather be attacked by a million rats then a million bugs. At least the rats can't climb into your ear and eat your brain. ughhhh!

Bugs in the house die young.
Bugs outside- I figure I'm in their territory and leave them alone.
That spider a few feet from my bedroom door was just too close.
The Orkin guy who checks for termites told me the palmetto bugs have no reason to be inside my house.

I had one fall out of my A/C vent above my head one night in the dark and it landed on my face!!!

It's almost alligator mating season now- it's "Bike Week" in Daytona Beach. Now the gators roam the streets....

Ew! Roachs!

I had a run-in with one a couple of weekends ago up in LA with my fiance. I went into the bathroom of the hotel we were staying in, turned on the light, and there was this BIG roach sitting on the sink, bold as brass. I screamed, grabbed a hand towel and knocked it into the sink and turned the hot water on it. I then proceeded to pour complementary mouthwash and shampoo on it until it was dead. My fiance just about busted his spleen laughing, he said it sounded like Zena the warrior princess was in the bathroom.

So far, my dream vacation would be to go back to sunny Italy, I know, another one, but, its so beautiful! The food is beautiful, the people, the landscape, the architecture, etc.

Yosemite valley in the middle of May. The waterfalls are pumping, it's warm and beautiful. A lot of hiking and picture taking.

Walking around the valley floor at 1:00AM and eating sausage and eggs at 6:00AM is heaven! Oh and I almost forgot about the ice cold Pepsi I wash my breakfast down with every morning.

Ah yes, life is good!
