New Lizzie Fiction

Here's one that I missed. Its new (Lizzie Borden) fiction, came out earlier this year, but just listed by my favorite local book store Baker Books.

The author is one: Debbie Colleen Gansert.

Book is called "The Lizzie Borden Game."

SUMMARY:

A mentally disturbed girl is obsessed with Lizzie and even has her bedroom as a shrine to Lizzie. Her mother denies she has a problem and defends her. Her father on the other hand wants her put away. The young girl then conjures up Lizzie's ghost who helps the girl exact her revenge on those who wish her harm.

Poor Lizzie always the wicked suragate or implement of evil.

For fans of Lizzie fiction sounds like a fun (or funny) read, who knows??? I like the cover which displays a skull with 2 cross bones in the shape of an ax, being sold in softcover at 14.95.

Hi Kat, yes, I read the summary from the "Baker Books" site and ad-lib the narrative of the summary as I remembered it.

Hey Harry, Great post photo. Thanks greatly, what eye candy can do for selling a book, judging by the cover, it looks like it may be geared towards adolescence/teenager, especially females. Only 76 pages? When I called the Bookstore they informed me that the book is self published, so no big production.

Yes, that is the problem with the fictional stories of this case. I haven't read the 'Ed McBain' version just for that reason. It can mess up your objective view of this case.
I think he said Lizzie used a candlestick for the killing. Yet there may not have been any candlesticks in the house!!!

Right you are Ray. It is the advice I give anyone who may inquire about which book they should read on the case. Stay away from fiction unless you have studied the case for a while.

Once you know all the particulars of the case you can enjoy a fictional account for it's own merits. With an open mind they can be an enjoyable read.

In ficiton all errors (not grammar) intentional or not are totally acceptable. The story can be twisted anyway the author wishes and with a clever outcome can come out to be a great story-----------------"that is,"

........to anyone not faniliar with the true account. Some of us just cannot accept far fetch accounts. But that is fiction. I can place Lizzie on a dog sled with Peary and have them both discover the North Pole if I wish. Does that make it wrong? No not in fiction. Can I make it work. Probably not. A bit ridiculous. Some may not think so. If I am someone who knows nothing of the Borden saga then Lizzie could be Sally. But, to far removed from the original account to any Lizzie student, though Lizzie did love dogs.

This being said, the closer you stay with the truth in giving a fictional telling of an historical account makes it much more enjoyable to those who are fimilliar with the history behind the real story.

But fiction is great fun, even Lizzie fiction.
