Harry's Hanscom

Post by augusta »

Boy, is this a late post! I'm having fun reading back issues of 'The Hatchet' - articles I never got around to reading. "Spotlight on Orinton M. Hanscom" by Harry Widdows (June/July 2004 - Volume 1, Issue 3) was a good one! That was a very interesting article, Harry - and researched well. There's even a photo of Hanscom Harry got. His career was surprising (Hanscom's - not Harry's. Well, Harry's might have been too ...).

'The girls' hired Hanscom to try to find the murderer, on the advice of Lawyer Jennings.

I think Jennings had Hanscom's notes, and that they are in that group of stuff that has not been released to the public. It'd be a great read!

Thanks for the article, Harry. I wish you would write more for 'The Hatchet'. I don't think you realize how good your articles are.

Thank you, Augusta, I'm glad someone appreciated it.

I found Hanscom an interesting character and let's hope someday his reports of his short-lived investigation turn up.

He was allegedly pulled from the case by Pinkerton but I kinda believe he learned a few things which Jennings might not have wanted him to pursue.
I know I ask perfection of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think that's what I'll find
