"Direct some paper wrappers".

Post by Airmid »

In Lizzie's Inquest testimony, she says:

"She [Mrs. Borden] also asked me if I would direct some paper wrappers for her, which I did."

I have no idea what Lizzie is talking about, does anyone know?

I understand the wrappers were for the delivery of the newspaper. The paper charged less if you provided your own addressed wrappers.

And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

I think she was indicating she was writing the family name and address on them.

Here is a link I found describing newspaper wrappers in Victorian times.
