I can't remember exactly when and where I read about someone here wanting to find appropriate music for a Lizzie piece he was putting together, but I came across "She's only a bird in a gilded Cage" which was written around that time and thought it could be a good song for her.

ten minutes later: Never mind- I see that someone already thought of it and put it on the forum in 2003.

In light of Lizzie's story, the lyrics are quite poignant.

NO, not at all!
Lizzie was never a rich man's mistress, to be used and disposed.
Doesn't that still go on today? Whatever happened to Marla Maples?

One can interpret that to mean that Lizzie was tied to Andrew's purse. As if she had a choice- being she could go out in the world and make her own way or stay dutifully at home and still be Andrew's daughter with no rights - her father's *property.*

It needn't be a song of a mistress- maybe it once was.
There are different ways of looking at things.

I'd like to know what kind of music she liked to listen to. That would interesting to look into for your documentry. I know she did like plays and musical shows, maybe she like period pieces.

I am just assuming that because she had a lot of theater friends, and the televison had'nt been invented yet, that would have been probably what she liked. Just a guess Kat.
