Lizzie's Grand Tour Ship

I have just come across a reference to the departure date as July 22 aboard RMS Teutonic from New York. I had heard or read it was Scythia from Boston. Teutonic did sail from New York and was a popular ship of that time. Any thoughts on this one? I may be able to check the passenger list up in Belmont for that voyage.

I've read that as well, Shelley. Found it at this site

The July 22, 1890 entry reads:

"Lizzie Borden of Fall River, Massachusetts, departs from New York with a small party of women aboard the Teutonic, sailing for London."

According to all records Lizzie would have already been in Europe on July 22 if she sailed on the Scythia on June 21st. It could be they were originally going to sail aboard the Teutonic and had a change of plans and sailed earlier. We discussed the Scythia sailing at this thread:

Thanks Harry. Yes, maybe it was a change of plans. Teutonic is one of my favorite ships so I was delighted at the possibility. It should be easy to check, as the National Archives has all the passenger ship lists near Belmont, Mass.
I don't doubt my old chum Len and the Scythia, but I was hoping maybe there was something in the Teutonic announcement. Odd for a paper to print that. Still sniffing around for more on Miss Cox. I am thinking about poor old Abby getting a break during Lizzie's sojourn in Europe!

I wonder if she came back with any sovuniers, and what they were. Don't think she would have gotten Abby anything. But Andrew and Emma would have had something nice. Just wonder what she got them if anything.

We know she brought back a copy of Raphael's Sistene Madonna and some scenes of a Roman basilica-or a cathedral. These were described in the account of Lizzie's room by a lady reporter. It is mentioned in Rebello also.
