Friday Night Movies

Post by Kat »

I would not like to think I have torn you away from the Forum tonight- but just FYI- if you get TCM- tonight starting at 8 is a scary double feature!
The Uninvited (Ray Milland)
followed by The Haunting (of Hill House).

Yikes!
Sleeping with the lights on tonight?

Have you ever seen, "The House On Greenapple Road?"

I saw that one when it came out in '70 and it gave me the creeps. I grew up on horror flicks but this one got to me for some reason. It's a good one. William Windom stars in it.

Kat, have you read "We Have Always Lived In The Castle," also by Shirley Jackson? It has a Kat in it too, although she is Merrykat.
I love both the movie and book versions of "The Haunting." I remember watching it as a child on "Sunday Night At The Movies". I loved more creepy things as a kid ("Dark Shadows", etc) than I do as an adult.

Yes actually. I loved Shirley Jackson in my teens! My mother got me started on Ms. Jackson!
I too loved creepy stuff when I was younger- but not now.

I think "Poltergeist" was the 3rd feature tonight- but it's a misnomer. I saw that at the movies, new, and remember popping out with "That's not poltergeist activity- this movie is misnamed!" in the audience!
I learned about that in 7th grade- in the 1960's!

BTW: How's your haunted shop and has it snowed where you are?

My favorite Shirley Jackson story is The Lottery.

No snow here. And the ghosts are keeping to themselves as well. ;-)
I did find an old family snaphsot that had a bit of haze in it (which I would SWEAR wasn't there before!). I emailed it to a new acquaintance that hunts ghosts, and she immediately pointed out a face in the haze!

ooooo
Do you mean a haze appeared in a photo after it was developed and sat around for a while?

Yes. I have two that I pulled out of the family album, taken in the '60s. Since I've been aware of parapsychology for a long time, I always looked for signs of ghosts in just about every photo I look at. And suddenly a sort of haze has appeared in photos that I have looked at many times.
I'll have to see if I still have the negatives.

Thank you for showing me those, Stuart!
It's not something that I can think of an explanation for!
Wow!
