Hey Shelley!!!!

What times of the year is the B and B slow? After reading all your stories and seeing all your photographs, I have finally talked someone into going to Lizzies with me. They are most anxious to get some dates and get plans made and I want to go when there will not be that many people around, well unless they are Borden die-hards. Suggestions??????

I will have a look at the reservation book Friday- but November -February are usually slow. Naturally weekends are busier than weekdays but not terribly so in the winter.. Hurray- what fun! I am so glad you are coming-I'll polish the silver tea service and get out my walking shoes. Maybe we will all get snowed in for a week. You all will be kept hopping and a' Lizzie-ing like mad. As soon as you get a date, we can arrange a trip to New Bedford courthouse, Fairhaven and Dedham too. Which room do you want? I would recommend Lizzie and Emma's. although many like to stay in that guestroom-not me!

Len usually comes over on Friday nights to visit, so we can have a great gabfest.

Thanks for the info on your special interests. I now understand why some will never accept the truth of Brown's book: it could spoil their business.
Or maybe not. But I don't know of anyother famous unsolved crime scene that is a commercial business today.

The Texas Schoolbook Depository is much different. What about other Presidential assassinations? I think the place where McKinley was shot was torn down decades later (but I'm not from Buffalo).

I'm sure there are others, but, off the top of my head I can think of one place that is a commercial business that was the scene of an unsolved murder; the Myrtles plantation.

"But soon after, tragedy struck the Myrtles once more. According to the January 1871 issue of the Point Coupee Democrat newspaper, Winter was teaching a Sunday School lesson in the gentlemen's parlor of the house when he heard someone approach the house on horseback. After the stranger called out to him and told him that he had some business with him, Winter went out onto the side gallery of the house and was shot. He collapsed onto the porch and died. Those inside of the house, stunned by the sound of gunfire and the retreating horse, hurried outside to find the fallen man. Winter died on January 26, 1871 and was buried the following day at Grace Church. The newspaper reported that a man named E.S. Webber was to stand trial for Winter's murder but no outcome of the case was ever recorded. As far as is known, Winter's killer remains unidentified and unpunished. "

A few of the Second Street guests go to the Myrtles on their ghostie quest. Then there are the haunted hotels- my favorite is Hotel del Coronado in California and the legend of Kate Morgan who was murdered there in 1892!.There is at least one book on that murder-I have a paperback edition.

Good morning, sorry it took awhile, been going through a blizzard here, power lines down, branches in the yard and a foot of snow.

YES YES Going to Lizzies. I am so excited. I do hope Seargants is having a sale while I am there, all I have is this ole cheap cotton bedford dress and I have not a hat to wear to the bahn. Thought i might pick up a couple of gifts for friends at Tilden and Thurber's too.....

If you are going to be at the house tonight will give you a call. Got lots of questions and of course the dates will depend on when Lizzies room is available. Oh I cant wait to meet you and talk to Len. High tea at Lizzies what a hoot.

What happens if a person makes a reservation at the B&B and can't make for some reason-bad weather, family emergency, illness...?

Your deposit will be refunded in case of emergency.But you must call as soon as possible.
No shows, without a call, such as we had last night, will be charged for the room. The room was held until midnight and these people never showed up or called to give a reason. Makes sense. This weekend is one of the busiest of the year and that room could have been sold several times over. It is rare though that people do not call if there is a problem.

Have fun, Bobbie! Bring back some pictures. Maybe you can talk Shelley into selling rubber hatchets with Lizzie's name on the handle there at the B&B.

Thanks 1bigsteve, the wait is killing me already. I am SO excited. Will take tons of pictures and figure out how to post them. I am sure if we wanted rubber hatchets that Shelley would get them, she is very accomodating. If not we will just figure out something to get you a rubber hatchet from the B and B.
