halloween nite and Lizzie

Post by snokkums »

Does anyone know if Lizzie and family celebrated Halloween? You know had candy for the kids when they came knocking or did they go to Halloween parties?

My church had a Halloween party-- I went as Lizzie! Had some friends of mine go and one came as Emma, Andrew and Abby. People at the church were amused and they knew who and what everyone was. Had a good time!

When I was in grammar scholl Halloween could not be celebrated because it was a pagan festival. I understand many hold with this belief today.

I hope I haven't told too much about myself.
It was Farmer William in the Bedroom with the Hatchet.

I had read a depiction of a turn-of-the-century observance that described Halloween parties. The newspaper gave hints on how to get up a party, games to play, suggestions on a palm reader- things that were fun to promote fraternizing between the girls and the boys- older kids, like age 15 +

Over the holiday tho there were TV shows on the history of Halloween. You might "Google" that and find out what you want to know.
