Mostly I hear noises when I am there alone. A few weeks ago I was in the red chair in the sitting room and clearly heard dishes being shuffled about and put away in the kitchen. Did I get up and look? No!
Sometimes I hear footsteps above my head, or going up and down the stairs, or muffled voices upstairs. I am a skeptic, and not at all into that paranormal stuff, but I have no logical explanation for the above.

Doors pop open, which I attribute to buses pulling in and the doors not being plumb. Most things have a logical explanation,- as for the other things- I don't go investigating!  I have never had a problem with my cameras, as many do- as you can see from the photos I have posted here.

All you need is a cat... or 2!
I can blame any noise on "The Cat." :batman:

The cooling of wood is said to create "creaks" in the night.

Heh, I seem to be developing a relationship with the cat. I was in the house talking with Leeanne one day, not too long after I'd been hired. We were in the sitting room and I looked toward the kitchen door. I could have sworn I saw the misty form of a cat heading toward the kitchen door. It had that look like when you pet a cat's back and they raise their bottoms in the air. I didn't say anything at the time, and then a few minutes later, Lee happened to mention that there is a spirit of a cat in the house.
Then, just a few days ago, I was in the house alone for a brief period. I was in the kitchen and I heard a cat meowing in the sitting room. I knew there was no cat in the house. Since the windows in the kitchen were open, I went outside to see if I could see a cat in the parking lot or surrounding areas. No cat. Went back in the house and no sooner did I make it to the kitchen than I heard the danged thing again! I said "Good morning, kitty.", and the noise stopped. Go figure.

Only one ghost cat?

I've got three of 'em - makes for good company - and they're low maintenance.

Cats sometimes cozy up to the trash bins in the driveway, with ensuing catfights which can get pretty loud. The Phantom Cat specter has been around for many years at the house- at least since 1998 when I arrived- and Martha McGinn says since it opened as a B&B. Guests seem to love the thought of it, and bring toys for it from time to time, quoting the legend about decapitated cat or chloroformed cats. Now the catface is appearing in the headboard woodgrain of the Borden's bed, I suspect CasperKitty is here to stay. :batman:

I read about people hearing voices coming from the guestroom and investigating only to find no one there. It gave me the idea of leaving a tape recorder running in the guestroom. If the voices are of Abby and her killer having their last conversation togeather, we might be able to find out who did it. Of course it would have to be while there are no guests in the guestroom.

I've never been to Lizzie's house (yet) but my family lived in a 100 year old house when I was a kid. That old house made so many sounds at night I thought it was going to fall apart. It was the old timber that was shifting and moaning from the change in temprature and it's own settling. Sometimes the wood would creak so loudly it sounded like small caliber gun shots. I recently came across an old photo of that neighborhood dated 1895 and there to the right was my old house.

I'll bet it has some stories to tell if it could only talk. Who knows there may have been an axe murder committed there.

It's amazing how easy it is to psych yourself into a state by watching a lot of the Haunted Borden House TV tapes. Jospehine McGinn slept for years in the diningroom with her headboard on the identical spot the corpses lay for 3 days and never saw or heard anything. Martha says she saw a pale figure floating over the floor in the basement. Michelle, who was house manager with Martha for a long time reported "ghostly hands" steadying her as she lost her balance changing light bulbs at the top of the stairs. Another maid, Amanda, saw an imprint of a body on the guest room bed after she had made it. And those stories go on and on. We have a file of some interesting photos where odd things appear. One or two I recognize as developing chemical burns. One or two have a foggy substance. A few have those orb things. Orbs, I am beginning to learn, from my own extensive photography are easily duplicated by mositure droplets or dust particles in the air, reflective elements in the room, and explainable causes.

Due to the bus station, many people are on the street at late and early hours so voices tend to drift in from the driveway, even backyard. There's also a healthy population of cats around the property, due to dumpsters across the street. Sea gulls are often swooping and shrieking very early in the morning as well. And the point is well made above, old houses creak and groan frequently, especially this house as many ducts have been cut into the walls when the air conditioning went in, as well as pipes which are outside the walls which race all over the house. Add the radiator noise, and it's not hard to understand why people hear all kinds of noises. A favorite story is that cameras get "sucked" of energy battery packs. I can't explain that. I have never had that problem.

For the first time the house offers a psychic on weekends who does personal readings for guests and seances where all manner of things happen to guests-rappings, automatic writing, etc. They seem to have a good time, and when on vacation, that is what matters most  , so, if you come wanting to see these things, I hope you have a scary experience- if not, well, the history of the crime scene is enough for me- and is creepy enough all by itself!

Wouldn't it be great if you could get Lisa Williams, the clairvoyant/medium on TV, to vist The House and give a reading? On her TV program she visits a "haunted" house on every show...

I usually don't endorse psychics because I believe, by and large, most are fakes - but Liisa is scarry with the predictions she makes - stops people on the street and reveals their innermost thoughts.

We had Katherine Ramsland, a well-known investigator, and writer on many topics- a smart, clever lady with impressive credentials. She writes of her visit to the Borden house in a book which I picked up on Amazon.com

I think that I would hate to be in the house on Halloween. I bet there is a lot of crazy things going on in the house that night.

The Lisa Williams show is on the Life Network at 8 p.m. every Monday night. It comes on right after the other "Medium" show with Patricia Arquette which is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Hello, I'm new, so forgive me if I mess up as this is my first post. I stayed at the Borden Inn last year in October. I've been involved in paranormal investagations so when I went I took my digital camera, I took dozens of pictures and captured some amazings things! Unfortunately, (I know I'm gonna get slammed for this) I bought a new computer soon after my visit and computer illiterate me decided to transfer all my files from old computer to my new one myself......................... The result was I lost all my files. (including the manuscript to 2 books I had written) However, I have kept the old computer and have not touched it at all so I'm hoping someone can find those files or at least find the Lizzie pictures for me. I learned an important lesson, now I take my camera to Wal Mart and print the pictures out, then come home and save them to my puter. I had an awesome picture taken in the sitting room that had something really odd in it, and when I tried to duplicate the shot I couldn't. It brown wavy ectoplasam in it I think. Another picture I took upstairs standing near the door to the Borden's Bedroom and shot through to Lizzie's room, and there was a hazy image in the middle of the picture which looked like a figure standing in the way. Almost ever picture I took at some abnormaly in it and I PO I lost them! I'm glas I went to the Inn when I did because I see the rates have doubled from last year.

Rates have not doubled Steve- in fact they are reduced in November- April by $25-$50 in the off-season! ! Did you not get a brochure? The second floor has been $225 (double occupancy) since I went to work there in 1998. The third floor went up a bit after the sale by the McGinns. There is also a discount for full-house, or multi-night weekly stay.
