Need help with identifying actress

There is a commerical on Tv that they play all the time---the one with the two senior citizens on the couch and they 'bicker' over the medication the wife is on. I think it is for prilosec.

Anyway, when I first heard the commerical I swear it was the voice of Vera-Ellen. When I finally saw it, it still could be her as she would be that age now and she was short.

Does anyone know if this is she or also feel this might be her? For those of you who don't know who Vera-Ellen is, she was the slim sister in White Christmas.

I remember Vera-Ellen! She played opposite Danny Kaye (my all-time favorite) in a flick or two. She was primarily a dancer, I think. I don't recall what her voice sounded like, but I didn't think of her when I saw that commercial. I recently saw the charming small film, "Ladies in Lavender," with Maggie Smith and Judi Dench. By coincidence my daughter in Texas and I went to see it on the same day. Telepathy? Anyhoo, I thought the actress who played the housekeeper, Miriam Margulyes (whose name I may have misspelled; I'll fix it if I did) practically ran off with the picture, despite the presence of those two magnificant old dames. I googled Margulyes and was surprised to find that she was born in 1946, which makes her only slightly older than my daughter! I hafta say she looks a lot older, or at least she did in this film. I thought she looked familiar, but that was because she's got a resume a yard long, and I'd previously seen her in several other movies. I highly recommend "Ladies." --And no, I'm not related to Charles Dance, though I'd certainly like to be!

A good site for finding names of famous people dead (and still living) is www.bookofthedead.info. Keeps one from going crazy when you can't remember who's still around and who isn't.

Thanks for the link, Angel. "Find a Grave" is good, too, but they only have the deceased who someone has submitted a photo of their grave on - for the most part.

I started collecting famous obituaries about 15 years ago. I kept forgetting who had died and who was still alive. I have a lot of them now, and every few years I'll look thru them.

There used to be this cool site where this young guy posted famous people's obituaries. He had them sorted by year and by month. And when someone died it would be on a headline on the home page that same day. It was interesting to browse - and a good way for me to get copies of obituaries.

I was just gonna ask him if he wanted some of my obits he didn't have and he discontinued his website.

Speaking of the dead, I was just watching "Wait Until Dark" and suddenly realized that all of the lead actors are dead except Alan Arkin. It's strange seeing those people on the screen knowing that they are all gone now. Kind of sad.

On that subject, of the actors in The Spiral Staircase, the only survivors (apart from the kid) are the two that are murdered! (In fact, one of the uncredited actors was actually murdered many years later.) (By the way, check out cinemorgue.com on actors who die in films.)

Just checked Wait Until Dark on imdb. Efrem Zimbalist Junior is also still alive.

You're right, Constantine, Jr. is still alive. It was his dad I was thinking about. I remember Sr. died in the '80's sometime. Efrem Sr. I heard was mean on the violin.

I liked Jr. in the F.B.I. series. I wish they would bring it back. His daughter was pretty good in Remmington Steele.

No matter how "tough" Efrem Jr. gets on screen, all I ever see is a big teddy bear. Richard Crenna too. Some actors never seem to come off as a true "heavy." Alan Arkin did a good job as the "heavy" but he didn't like the part of roughing up Audrey Hepburn. He is a singer, songwriter (Bannana Boat Song), comedian and writes kid's books. My kind of guy. Unfortunately I look and sound like a bully but I'm a teddy bear inside. Go figure.

Anyone know what happened to Samantha Jones and Julie Herrod? Robby Benson was the kid bouncing the ball in the airport.
