Photos of Lizzy in later years

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum. It is great to find so many others who are interested in all things Borden.

My questions is: Are there photos of Lizzy taken in her later years? I have only ever seen photos of her Circa 1892.... If so, are they available online?

Hi!
There is only the one of Lizzie with her pince-nez on that we know of.
I've been told there's a decent chance there are casual *Brownie* camera shots of her and probably some shots of others taken by her, but no one has made these available.

Oh wouldn't a new photo of Lizzie be cool!?

I remember when I was in my early 20's I had a friend who had a cleaning business on the side. One of his customers was the Luther Store and Museum in Swansea,Ma. I was helping my friend clean the Luther Museum one time when up I came across an actual autographed photo of lizzie up in the attic just sitting in a huge pile of photos on the floor of a storage room. I wanted to have that photo sooooooo bad and was trying to rationalise that the Luther Museum obviously didn't know or care that they had the treasure of Lizzie's just thrown in with a pile of photos on the floorbut my conscience got the better of me and the photo remained in the pile. I wonder if the Luther Museum to this day even knows it has this photo in it's possesion? Perhaps one of you forum members who still live in the Fall River area can find the time and inquiry of them about this photo.

Trust me Angel, to this day I kick myself in the butt over that photo

I also din't want to risk my friends cleaning business and reputation over the photo just in case the Luther Store had a hidden camera somewhere or something. The only thing that helps me keep my sanity over that photo was that I actualy got the chance to hold in my hands a photo of Lizzie that she actualy held in her own hands. One time my honesty didn't help though was when I was at the Central Congregational Church that Lizzie attended and taught Sunday School at. This was after the photo incident. A piece of the mosaic walkway between the church and the sanctuary had broken loose and YES....GASP...I did take it. So to this day I have a piece of the mosaic walkway that Lizzie actualy walked on. I am not proud of this action but it somehow made up for the photo.

Steve, was it one of the photos of Lizzie that is readily seen in books and such? Or, was it one that hasn't been seen before? Outside of the autograph, that would be priceless!

Unfortunately it was one that has been seen many times before and is even posted under the galleries here on this forum. Thats why I recognised it immediately. What caught my attention though was the back of the photo was written out to someone and signed "Lizzie". I just wonder if they still have it or any others of Lizzie just lying around.

If anyone finds out if the Luther museum has this photo, let us know!

I think I'd kick myself too! I've only seen that one photo on the virtual museum, the one with the glasses. That's the only one I've seen in her older years.

I've only seen that one photo also. Wow what a temptation, I have to say I'm glad you let it stay where it belonged. However is there anyone to contact at that museum to see if the photo is still around? Especially having a signature. The sad thing is that alot of museums just have rooms with piles of stuff that would be of interest to someone. What is the Luther Store and Museum? What was in there? Is it still open today?

The Luther Store was a mercantile store in Swansea in the early to mid 1800's. It is still a functional museum open today and run by the swansea Historical Society. This is the only link I could find to it.
