I just saw " Haunted New Englad " on the Travel channel , a rerun from 2003 I think . It showed alot of the Borden house and was really interesting . But they said the maids name was Bridget Kelly and that Andrew was sleeping downstairs when Abby was killed so I wonder about other " facts "

Oh, if we all had a dollar for every fact these documentaries and specials get wrong, we could all retire. No matter how carefully you explain and even give the facts written down, they somehow get spun in another direction.

OOO! Is that the one with The White Horse Inn? That is a cool place! Anyone visiting Fall River should consider making the drive to Newport and seeing the town, but also that Inn. They will let you look around in there, all floors- and they have a pretty garden. Just say you saw it on "Haunted New England" on TV!

I thought I had a photo of it but I guess I don't. Maybe Harry does?

My friend Stacy had never heard of Lizzie before, she saw this show the other day and It told her that Lizzie and Bridget had an intimate relationship, and got caught fooling around by the Abby and thats why she was killed.... I had to explain like 10 times that its all just speculation.... I hate that these travel channel shows dont tell the facts and they just wind up confusing everyone.

I forgot you and Harry went there for lunch. When I first lived in Newport in 1972, I worked on the corner next to the White Horse in a flower shop and heard all kinds of ghost stories about the place. It's fun to eat on the second floor- where these hauntings take place. It was built in 1675 on Marlborough St as a private home and became a tavern in 1687 so I guess it is ripe for spirits of both kinds-ale and ectoplasm.

It is also not very far from the Covel house on Farewell Street

I also thought I had taken some photos but can't seem to locate them. I know Stefani took some. Wasn't there a Friends Society meeting house near by?

And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

Yes- there is a Friends meeting house nearby- with one door for the men and one for the women. Love it.

Thanks for looking Har- and thanks for the nice picture Shelley.

We did not eat there- actually I asked to stop there last year and everyone went thru the place once I got permission, while I used the *necessary.*
The staff was very nice.

I remember the Friends Meeting Hall across the street set back in a field.

As far as everything I ever read, Andrew was not at home when Abby was killed. Abby was killed at about 9:30 am and Andrew was in town taking care of business. It also showed her measuring the pillow in the guest bedroom. As far as I know she was making the bed. But you are right, it was interesting to watch. I saw the show too.

Isn't that the one where they have Bridget killing Abby and Andrew because they called her Maggie instead of Bridget ?
