I don't know, but, I think there may be a good possibility that it is real. I recall going to a friend's farm as a girl and never having seen real hogs before; I was absolutely shocked and amazed by the size of them, especially the male!

Here is a Photoshopped image I created by Googling "hunter with rifle" and making his image bigger and cutting out the Giant boar and pasting that onto this guys picture. Just now. In 5 minutes.
I wanted to see how it looked.
This is a FakeFoto.

Susan, thank-you for posting the monster-pig photo.
Taking a close look at the photo Susan provided, I think the photo is a fake. The main reason being the position of the downed animal - it is in an unnatural position for a downed animal to be in; a more natural position for a downed animal would be over on it's side with head flat to the ground and all four legs extending outward in one direction. The pig in this photo appears to have been laying down and as the person who took the photo, was focusing the camera, the pig attempted to get up; in other words the pig was in the process of getting upon it's feet when the photo was taken. And, what is that object under the pig's jaw? With a head that size, wouldn't the weight of the pig's head cause the mouth to be closed and it's head drooped or slumped over that object? This photo just does not ring true for me.
The following link contains an interview with Jamison Stone, his father, and CNN's Kiran Chetry: IMO, I think, Jamison Stone's face is definitely chubbier in the video than the kid's face in the photo - Jamison's double chin appears to have shrunk considerably when compared to the kid in the photo. Again, I think the photo is a fake. http://youtube.com/watch?v=sOoXFzRzOtk& ... ed&search=
Toward the bottom of the following link, are several photos of the pig; note the second pic (going left to right) which states the heights of Jamison and his father; it also indicates the length of the pig from snout to hoof, then, note the last pic - the pig in the last pic does not seem to be anywhere near the size of the pig portrayed in the other pics; compare the size of the man operating the backhoe to the size of the pig in this pic. The pigs are even different colors! Also, compare the photo of the pig in the first pic with the last pic: note that the pig in the first photo is very dirty appearing - the pig in the last photo is very clean appearing! I may be totally wrong, but these photo(s) just do not ring true for me. Check it out: http://www.monsterpig.com/
I see that so far I am the only member who think the photo is a fake, oh well!

Thanks for all the input you guys!
This is the first time I've had a chance to discuss the thing.
I don't vote in my pwn polls, twinsrwe- that's why you are the -so far- only vote for the pic being fake.
I thought it was fake from the first time I saw it- but seemed to be in the minority.
Well you've answered one of my questions with your link- there are other photos of the *thing* after all.

I think the photo and pig are both real. I think the kid in this photo was farther away from the pig than it at first appears. In a very simular photo on the monsterpig site the kid is closer to the pig, probably with his chest against the pig's side, because the kid's head is bigger and in sharper focus than it is in this photo. Whether the kid kneeled farther away from the pig on purpose to exagerate the pig's size or not I don't know, although he did manage to keep that revolver in view, barely. From the photos I've seen I think this pig was about as big as they said he was, 9' 4" long. It looks bigger that "Hogzilla" at 8' long. There was a pig in china that is even bigger than this monster pig, so they do get huge.
Years ago I was tempted to go pig hunting for the meat (not sport!) and people teased me for wanting to take a .460 Weatherby magnum, which has twice the power of an elephant gun. After seeing this pig I don't think they would be laughing any more. Ahhh, sweet justice.
Have any of you seen the movie, "Razorback?" Get it!! It's about a rino sized, super mean wild boar on the rampage in Australia. I love that film.

It has finally been determined to have been a fake and has been exposed by the following site with links to other sites on how it was done.
AP fell for it.

Thanks for the update, Stefani. Very interesting web site.
The thing I find even more interesting is that the web site, http://www.monsterpig.com/ , has totally changed from what was on it yesterday! The written information changed and all of the pictures have been removed, except for one. Hmmmm... ???

From what I have been able to gather from that web site, the family never claimed the pig was longer than 9'4". However, the way the pig was photographed, whether on purpose or accidental, makes the pig appear much bigger. So, can we really call the pig a hoax? I mean if I caught a fish 3' long and never claimed it was longer than 3' but I photographed it in a way that made it look 6' long, can we say the fish is a hoax or a fake?
I saw a photograph and motion pictures of the world's biggest feet from Guinness. They used a fish-eye lense and photographed those feet up-close and made his feet look much bigger than they were. So, can we call those feet fakes? By the way, the guy was over 7' tall.
It remind's me of the P.T. Barnum gag, "Six foot tall man eating chicken." People paid money to see a "Six foot tall man-eating chicken" but what they saw was a "Six foot tall man eating a chicken." He didn't lie to the public, he just bent the truth ever so slightly. I think that is what these people did with the pig.
