Lizzie Borden- Case reopened
I saw on Amazon a videotape of something called Lizzie Borden- a Case Reopened by Ed McBain. Has anyone ever seen this? Is it any good?

It's not bad; more of a "just for fun" thing. You can expect the usual 5,000 factual errors.
Basically the program shows various theories of the case & they do reinactments at 92 2nd Street. So, lots of good house footage.
Ed McBain was also Evan Hunter, & he finishes off the show with his Lizzie-&-Bridget-as-lovers theory from his book.

I agree with Tina-Kate and Liz - it is not that great. Although, you may get a good chuckle out of it.

You're welcome, Ellen. Glad we could help.

I tend to buy everything "Lizzie", so I have the Ed McBain film. The major plus for me, if I remember correctly, is that it's filmed at the B&B; the major negative for me is that so much of it is theoretical. But I suppose McBain has/had a right to his theory, as much as anyone else. I mean, none of us were there, so who "really" knows what happened? An interesting film, nonethess. (I included it on my "Best of Lizzie" series of DVDs, on which I burnt several such specials.)
Q. "You have been on pleasant terms with your stepmother since then?"
A. "Yes sir."
Q "Cordial?"
A. "It depends upon one's idea of cordiality, perhaps."

Mr. McBain was interviewed (I believe by Stefani) and that interview can be found in the Virtual Museum and Library at:

As the previous posters said the production contains a host of errors which to the Borden purist is maddening.
Just this one for instance. They have Lizzie pushing her way through laundry lines in the back yard to get from the barn to the house. And then they show her coming in by opening the door from the front hallway and entering the sitting room. Grrrrrrr!

I taped this off tv years ago and sometimes watch it for a lark. I think Mr McBain is sort of charming and silly, but the facts are not accurate and the solution is...well...pretty far fetched. I do like seeing the experts share bits and pieces throughout the show.
The nightie --- lolololol! It is quite a shock.
