I was reading in the book"The LIzzie Borden Axe Murder TRial" that Hiram Harrington told reporters that the Borden daughters had been beuding with their fatrher and stepmother for nearly ten years. He said that Lizzie was uppity and domineering woman who had othen bittely about her father. On the day of the murders, he said she showed no signs of emotion.
I never heard or thought that the feud between them was that long. Is this true? And also to, it doesn't seem that Hiram Harrington was a big fan of lizzie, after reading that statement. Was there any bad blood between them?

I don't have my Rebello or notes with me here (am hopeless on dates, etc without).
However---
This is all prob in reference to the fight that started over the Whitehead house & the 1/2 interest in it that Andrew purchased for Abby in the 1880s. Emma & Lizzie heard about it & got upset. They felt that what he did for her people he should do for his own. This led to Andrew giving them their grandfather's house on Ferry Street (Ref. Emma's trial testimony).
It is interesting to note that Hiram Harrington & his wife Lurana (Andrew's sister) were living @ Ferry St at the time of the purchase. They also moved out right after the house was transfered to "the girls" (Ref. Rebello).
Of course, Emma also admits to a feeling of general malaise toward Abby (on her own behalf) all of her life.
Harrington did not like Lizzie (from his interview shortly after the murders). Hiram Harrington was also not supposed to be on the best of terms with Andrew.
