Lizzie's book collection

Post by Richard »

Forgive me if I cover ground already trodden, but something occured to me two weeks ago as I was looking at an actual book owned by Lizzie.

1) Is there a master list of all the books that were in her library when she passed?

2) Is there any way of ascertaining which of those books were owned by her at 92nd before the murders and which were purchased by her afterwards?

It makes sense that if the copyright is 1993 or later, the book never was inside of 92. But I remember reading somewhere in a contemporary account (I think it was in Rebello where a teacher of Lizzie's from Morgan Street was interviewed) that said that Andrew Borden had a substantial library and Lizzie loved books.

Well, where in 92 2nd so you think that Andrew kept his books? And are any of the known books owned by Lizzie ones that she inherited from her father, or books that were owned by her in her earlier years.

Thought this might be interesting to kick around.

Q. "You have been on pleasant terms with your stepmother since then?"
A. "Yes sir."
Q "Cordial?"
A. "It depends upon one's idea of cordiality, perhaps."
