Look on the right in the lower box.
I noticed the story thru Harry's link earlier.

I'm going to next post the picture of the dead animal.
If you don't want to see what might be a dead animal, don't scroll down any further.

It looks to me like some sort of dog. I've seen ugly dogs and this looks like an ugly dog. In fact it looks like a large Chinese Crested Hairless. They can be ugly! Gypsy Rose Lee raised that breed. It will be interesting to see what the DNA says.

This thing is really ugly! I agree, the DNA results should be interesting. I found a couple of close up pictures of the head...

I agree with 1bigsteve. My first thought was someone crossed a Mexican hairless witha pit bull, then abandoned into the wild (like so many dogs who had thoughtless, selfish owners).

If it's a very dry area (like Texas), the poor animal may be drinking blood from killed animal simply out of dehydration (no good water source). Survival evolution.

Personally, I think it's good that this woman gave up her Africa research when I saw the poor dog's head.

This seems like the right right place to mention that I'll be away all next week, in New Mexico! I'll be careful at night, and keep my goats tied up.

I'm not done for the day, but I'll be back on the boards on Monday the 17th.

Play nice!

Didn't the woman also keep the head of her "chupacabra" in her freezer for a bit of time before releasing it to the media? I think I read that somewhere but am not 100 percent positive....if so, it sounds a tad bit suspicious to me.

I don't know if this woman kept the head of this creature in her freezer before releasing it to the media or not, but, she does keep it in her freezer now. I am assuming that she will keep it there until the DNA test results are in, which according to the link below is due. Quote from article: ... the creature’s head, which is in Canion’s freezer, will go on her home’s wall.

Why anyone would want this things head hanging on their wall, is beyond me!!! Yuck!!!

At this point in time, I wonder if this woman is out for the almighty buck. Check out this portion of the article, taken from the link below:
Locals immediately wondered if she’d stumbled upon a creature of folklore – the chupacabra. While that’s still unclear – KENS-TV is awaiting results of DNA tests on the carcass – what’s certain is Canion has stumbled upon a flood of international attention. She’s even got the T-shirts to prove it. ... "We have sent shirts to Guam, we have sent shirts to Iraq, California, Memphis,” Canion said. The shirts started as a joke among family, but they’ve become a pop-culture commodity and have been shipped as far as Australia. “We have not been able to keep up with them. So we have done four orders and we’re over a thousand now,” Canion said.

Why anyone would want to wear a t-shirt with a picture of this ugly things head on it??? I guess it really does take all kinds to make the world.

Back to work after my New Mexico trip, during which, I'm glad to say, we didn't run into any goat-suckers.
