I no longer follow baseball, or any other sport, since there are no financial or tangible returns. Why would I root for someone making 32 million? My reasoning apparatus just can't support it any longer.
But that being said, here is a wonderful story where the fans actually WIN.

They talked about that offer all through the World Series but the offer was based on anyone stealing a base, not on the Red Sox winning the series.
