Of course this is Andrew Borden as he should be remembered. Once we are gone we would like to have people remember us in our prime. This is how we should remember Andrew Borden, not as we have seen him in books.

I think he looks very handsome, in his younger years.

Well, it's one way to remember him, but I have room in my bald old head for all the photos, grisly and not, I've seen of Andrew J.!

Your right Bob. Any photo of Andrew is acceptable as a respectable image of the man. (Well, maybe not the one of him al chopped up)

The reason I like this one is as you said "what thoughful kindly eyes".

After many of the callous or unkind things said about Andrew Borden in books, of how cheap he was etc., this image makes him look like a more sympathetic figure.

This portrait just paints him in a very different light for me.

I just feel he has been treated unfairly in history. Labeled as a miser, he did give his daughters a house, then purchased it back at fair market value. That would be like my parents giving me and my brother a 120,000 dollars each in today's money......

Thanks for the article, MB.

Of course all this "Big News" about the Andrew Borden portrait is completely subjective.

What is "Big" news to one is a passing fancy to another. The fact that the Andrew portrait is news exists without argument...............whether it is "Big" news is totally up to the individual.

As a active student of Borden Studies, the find is fascinating and a rare occurrence. To the mass population it maybe as small a find as a Five legged cow.

As described in the Hatchet, all in all it is a significant historical discovery with a wonderful story about how it came to see the day of light to booth. How it has gone for over 100 years hidden away, but in pure sight, is beyond me.

Below is the story as it appears in the Fall River Herald.

Yes it is a great article in the paper, with thanks to Ms. Allard- she's been writing about this case for years and her dedication is admirable.

Cool Picture find for Stefani- YES!
