MHC mentions Emma Article on College Web Page

Post by kfactor »

I contacted the Office of Communications at Mount Holyoke regarding Stefani and Shelley's article "Emma Lost & Found" in the August 2007 issue of the Hatchet. Although it was discovered that Emma did NOT attend Mt Holyoke Female Seminary, but rather attended Wheaton, I thought MHC might still like to know about the article.

The person who wrote the article (see link below) from the Communications Office used to be a reporter for a newspaper in Fall River, and worked just around the corner from 92 Second Street! She seemed quite interested...
Just a bit of shameless self-promotion here....

Thanks for posting that. It was interesting. I wonder what she meant when she said that The Hatchet is one of other publications devoted to the Bordens. Are there any other current magazines/newsletters that are about the case?

Good point, Augusta. I referred the writer to the Lizzie Andrew Borden Society Web Pages, in case she wanted to do some research. It's possible she found mention of the LB Quarterly somewhere...

Atta Girl Kristin!!! You're not shamelessly self promoting your find...it was a great find. Imagine after over 100 years later and we are still finding out new information about the Bordens. Where Emma went to school, a new picture of Andrew...who knows what is next! I get excited just thinking if it.

Yes, that makes sense that she could have heard mention of the LBQ. But I do wonder if there are any other Lizzie magazines out there. I sometimes tell people that The Hatchet is the only magazine about Lizzie Borden (present tense).

It is the only one I am aware of. There are a number of blogs which post about Lizzie items, including true crime blogs. Just lately a few of the paranormal magazines like Haunted Times and Fangoria have run articles on Lizzie.
