Funny Names

Post by augusta »

I've been running into some humorous names lately, so thought I'd share. I'll bet everyone has a few to post. They're all true.

A veterinarian that did surgery on my dog's name was "Dr. Wolf".

I saw a headstone at the cemetery that held the grave of "Harry Barber".

My kids' substitute pediatrician was named "Dr. Fink".

A gynocologist in the area is named "Dr. Butto".

We had two gynocologists in my home town- Dr. Tinker and his associate Dr. Towher.
They heard it ALL.

There was a doctor in the town where we used to live whose name was Dr. Cutlip.

When I was growing up there were a couple of attornies in town who were partners. Their names were Low and Crook. The joke around town was that they were looking for a partner named Down so they could be the offices of Low, Down, and Crook.

I have to remember to ask my Dad...he had a ton of these occupation-appropriate names.

I just remembered another one. In Frederick, Maryland I go to an eyeglass place that has a doctor on board whose name is Dr. Gilligan. On the outside the sign says "Gilligan's Eyeland." I thought that was pretty clever.

Fish was a popular surname in Fairhaven years ago. Of all the Fishes who used to live here, my favorite is Captain Preserved Fish.

There's a vegetable stand near where I live. It's called Wilt's produce. I've always thought that was funny.

OK, here we go.

Jonathan Gash, the writer of the "Lovejoy" books was a Gynecologist.

There was a Gynecologist named Dr. Ovary. Not kidding.

Another doctor was Dr. Bonebrake. Don't want to go to him!

I heard of a Dr. Paine. Don't want to go to him either. Probably a Dentist!

A Proctologist named Dr. Sniff.

Theres a few others I can't remember.
