My cousin Chad has two new additons to his family. He sent me these pictures from his home in Wisconsin where he lives on a lake with forty acres of land.

I love those pictures, Angel! Where did he get the baby deers? Is that one an albino? I think some little doggie is getting worried. 40 acres and I'm stuck in a city? Eek! He is fortunate. I'd love to be there.

I don't know the story- he just sent the pics. I emailed him to get the full scoop, but haven't heard back yet.

It's a shepherd.

Wisconsin has incredibly beautiful lakes, and it's gorgeous in the summer. However, after having spent 27 cold winters there, I wouldn't live there again for anything.

I agree, Wisconsin has absolutely gorgeous lakes; a person can lose themselves in their beauty. There is nothing in this world, like sitting on the bank of a lake, soaking in it's beauty, to renew the human spirit, when life's burdens get you down.

As for the cold winters - well, yes, they can be a bit nippy. However, with the global warming, the winters have not been anything close to the bitter cold temperatures I experienced in my younger days, nor do we get the snow fall and ice storms that we use to. I truly enjoy the seasonal changes that take place in Wisconsin.

The pics of the fawns are breathtaking, and they are as cute as a bugs ear! Your cousin is truly, a very lucky man.

Wow, that lake almost looks like a swimming pool its so blue! And those fawns are just so sweet. Will your cousin continue to keep them when they are older or release them? I've been to Madison, Wisconsin before, I really liked the vibe of the town.

My cousin's mother just emailed me and told me about the deer. This is what she said:

"Hi. Well he has a white buck, which is not a true albino, and a brown doe. The doe died having the fawns, so he has to feed them with a bottle every 4 hrs. He has done that before because he has had a deer farm for many years. He would feed the fawns also to have them tame. Then you could pet them all through the years. He doesn't have very many now, because of the cwd sickness that is going around. He is really proud of his pond. and it sure is pretty. He swims in it every day."

Actually, he lives in northern Wisconsin, near a gorgeous resort town called Minocqua, approaching the Michigan border.

Your cousin seems to be doing a fine job raising those fawns, Angel. Minocqua is a beautiful place, I've been there many times. My dairy farm was in Florence county, east of Oneida and Vilas counties. I remember going to the Cranberry Festival in Eagle River just for the cranberry cheesecake!

Yes, I've been to Wausau several times. Lots of ginseng grown around there. I looked at a farm west of Wausau at one time, I think it was on Townline Road if I remember correctly. The farm consisted of only two forties, but they were correction forties, sixty acres apiece!

The farm was located in Athens, WI, as I remember.

Every year they have international kayak racing right through the middle of town in Wausau. I was surprised that people come from all over the world to do it. They open up a dam or something and the water rushing through the town on a normally quiet river is amazing. I wish that was happening when I lived there.

It's winter in New England when the woodpeckers start hitting the fatty cake and sunflower seeds. This was outside my window Friday.

He is so cool! I see them on my yard occasionally, but I have to be quick because as soon as they know they're being watched they scurry to the other side of the tree and hide.
