Does murder run in the family?

Post by snokkums »

I was reding thru Lizzie's geneology. Came across something interesting. Thomas Cornell was accused, tried, and convictged of killing his mother, Rebecca.

Lizzie was accused, tried, and accquitted of kill her parents.

I was just curious if this killing o f the parents seems to run in the family. I mean is the legend continuing with the following Borden/Cornell family. Anybody else in the family trying to kill the parents?
Suicide is painless It brings on many changes and I will take my leave when I please.

I recall seeing something about the Cornell murder on some haunted history program. I didn't know Lizzie was a relative.

The online Cornell family site seems to want to claim Lizzie and it sounds good and the TV shows latch onto that- so has a recent book. But my genealogical research shows it was a relative called Innocent Wardell, not Innocent Cornell, who was part of the Borden line. The Cornell's have a person named Innocent and so they decided to claim a Borden with that first name.
I think our Cynthia has a theory that the Wardell's might eventually be a misspelling of Cornell, but that has not been proven.

Here is the snippet, and please note the citation I typed, very small, on there.
(I also have another source to back this up in Hattie Borden Weld.)
