Rev. Buck's children

Post by Nadzieja »

I was referencing something in Lizzie Borden Past & Present. I came across the profile of Rev. Edwin Buck. He and his wife had six children. They all grew to adulthood and were pretty close in age to Lizzie. What I found surprising was that one passed away in 1913, two passed in 1944, and three passed in 1924. It just seemed odd to me that 3 siblings would pass in one year. Does anyone have any idea on cause of death. All I could think of was either accident or contagious illness such as the flu. :?: I know it's kind of an odd question, it just made me curious.

I'm kind of at a loss here. Was he Lizzies pastor?
I've tried to find information about him and the children.

I'm taking this off page 15 of Lizzie Borden Past & Present by Leonard Rebello. It says Lizzie joined the Central Congregational Church in 1885 where she became acquainted with Rev. Buck.

He also visited her in prison and he was one of Emma and Lizzie's supporter's at the time of the murders.

Also when Emma left Lizzie at Maplecroft she went to stay at Rev. Buck's home.

I see things like that and I just start wondering what happened. There are so many people attached to this case, especially friends and acquaintances of the Borden's. It is really interesting to start to look at some of them. Like I read last night that John Morse had a step-sister. Never heard that one!! So naturally I end up looking for more & more info, but it's alot of fun.
If you find out anything---please post it.
