Would Lizzie have watched the debates?
I know that in Lizzies time, women couldn't vote, but I was wondering if Lizzie would have listened to the debates, read about them, or even attended one. I know she was involved with the votes for women, so I was just thinking if she would have taken any interest or had an opinon.

Can't say that I'd blame her. I watched for about 5 minutes and went to sleep.

Re: Would Lizzie have watched the debates?
Probably not, but she would have watched the program about herownself, rerun on the Destinations channel last night, and featuring commentary by Stefani and Kat!
It did make some glaring mistakes (notably re the timing of Alice Russell's testimony), but was still highly watchable.
Again, we have the assessment of sexual abuse.
Who knows? If so, I don't think it was ongoing, but it certainly could have happenend when Lizzie was a decade or more younger. It would certainly explain the level of animosity in the house, on top of money/estate issues.
What made me bring it up again: Thinking about Dr. Bowen's sympathy for Lizzie (well noted in testimony by outsiders), thinking that he may have known, might have even performed an abortion.
And sympathetic MD's knew how and either did or didn't. They did risk jail. I've heard octogenarians (and older) in a small town talk about the MD who would do (illegal, of course, back then) abortions.
I wonder if poor Lizzie had to cross Second Street, clutching a few dollars, to ask Dr. Bowen for one? That he either ferreted out the truth or strongly suspected it?
Theirs was an extremely close relationship. Not so much between Mr. Borden and Dr. Bowen.

Also got to thinking: If Emma told Uncle John about incest and abuse, then he would have been more sympathetic about Lizzie's justifications for murder.

Many analysts and quite a few psychics have discussed the incest issue. Again, if it happened, I think it ended some years before the murders, that it may have fueled Lizzie's resentment about "unfairness" in money issues.

I'm still undecided about the issue, but I don't dismiss it.
I'll never forget mentioning Lizzie to a born-and-bred Bostonian, now deceased, of advanced years. I had scarcely said,
"Borden" when she stated flatly, "Incest."

If she was the moderator of the debate, I'm sure that she would have axed some interesting questions.
