My Introduction

Post by Vidocq »

I thought I would take a minute and introduce myself as I am a new member of the boards.
I have spent the last 20 years in psychology with an emphasis on abnormal behavior.

As a kid I used to hear about Lizzie, Jack, the Boston Strangler, etc., As a child these kinds
of topics tend to go in one ear and out the other. It wasn't until 1988 that I became
fascinated by the workings of the psychotic mind.
The trigger for this was mainly the 100th anniversary of the JTR murders. My mother had told
me one time that He/She was a person who ran around London killing women. When I found
out the truth of his actions I was immediately impelled to try to figure out what drove him.
Since then I have achieved my degrees and I look forward to reading and learning.

For those interested, my moniker is the name of one of the first true dectectives who lived
in France in the late 18th century. He made huge steps in the development of the first forensic
procedures. Eugene Francious Vidocq.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Welcome to the forum, Vidocq! I'm sure you'll find plenty of abnormal behavior here! Come to think of it, I would have difficulty describing normal behavior, whatever that may be. Enjoy!

Welcome Vidocq! What have you done or plan to do with your degrees? Just curious.

Hello: I am fairly new myself! I just finished reading John Douglas "The Cases that Haunt Us" and found his chapters on JTR very compelling...are you familiar with this book?
