It has probably been talked about before, but were women allowed to vote during Lizzie's life time? My history is abit rusty on the subject. It would have been interesting to see who Lizzie would have voted for, If she was even interested in the subject of politics. She always struck me as the kind of person that some things she was very smart on and others she wasn't that concerned with. Wonder what category that politics and voting fit in with her Just a bit curious on that.

Yes, the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, was passed by Congress on June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920.

Lizzie was 60 years old when the 19th Amendment was ratified, so would she have voted? Maybe, maybe not. I have a feeling she probably would not have voted. I think she just wanted to live her remaining days peacefully in her home, but that is only my opinion.

Interesting question and I would imagine it was an exciting time for a lot of women to get to vote for the first time. I have heard that some husbands forbid their wives to vote. Imagine that.

I read somewhere that the suffragettes convinced President Wilson and other politicians that women had the right to vote. It's totally believable and also seems possible that President Wilson's wife may have done a lot of pushing for the right to vote. She must have made a lot of decisions after his stroke.
