You know, lately I noticed quite a lot of junk mail getting through to my Inbox, unlike previous months & years. Now I know why.
I don't need to invest in a 'sure thing' penny stock.
I don't need to enhance my breasts or male member.
I don't want to meet '2 hot chicks new in town'.
I also noticed that membership has gone up from less than 100 to over 400 recently. And here I thought it was to read my "Proofs of Arnold Brown's Theory". What a disappointment!!!

RayS, as I said in another thread on this issue, I have caught all the spammers before they were approved for membership. Only an approved member can PM or email members. What the spammers in this case want, is to SPAM THE FORUM, not the members of the forum. They join and post their spams to the various threads. It is all done automatically by robots, called bots.
My guess is that your recent slew of spam email is caused by another source.

I was thinking Ray may have been checking the member list and clicking on their www. That could be a way to get a *cookie* and get spammed. Since this spam thing started, the new www's are ones to be careful of. The older ones are most probably legitimate.
To those who don't know: The last 1/2 of the last page of the member list is not necessarily of approved and accepted members. The lower portion of that list is more like a waiting room for applicants.
Stefani goes through the list and constantly cleans it out of those names who were not approved.
(She also clears the names of those who never posted within a certain amount of time- but she makes an announcement for that, or lets the member know.)
That means the last several names on the memberlist might not yet be members, at any given time.
--Whew! 4 edits! I'm glad I don't have to make Announcements! Stef does it so well!!

Years ago I was advised to keep two (or more) Email idents. One for business (resumes), one for friends and family, and one for everyone else. So if this last has a msg w/ my name (Dear Ray) I know automtically its likely junk mail.
Also to use more than one Email service. At the end of 2001 the CNN one was stopped for a few weeks. When they came back all my Email had been deleted (change of ownership, new policy). But this was #3.
