Have any of you read the novel, "Lizzie Borden: A Study in Conjecture" by Marie Belloc Lowndes? If so, what did you think of it?
How much of it is made up out of whole cloth? I'd like to know if the following characters are historical personages or figments of the novelist's imagination: Hiram Barrison, Ernest Shepherd, John Purcell, Maria Verney.

I read the book a few months ago. I thought it was well written. Like many books of that era it tended to be a bit overly romantic. Still, I preferred it to the over sexed books that came out later.
