What Is Your Favorite Color?

Post by 1bigsteve »

Being an artist I don't really have a favorite color but I do lean more toward blue, red and green. What is your's?

Thought you'd like that, Harry.

Actually I've been wondering about everyone's favorite color for some time now.

Does that tell you anything about a person's psychology?

Are you talking to me, Kat? If you are I'm not much in psychology. Just curious to know what colors we like. I like Winsor & Newton's colors. They have full saturation. I love their Ultramarine Blue, Winsor Green and their Crimson and other reds. They are to die for. I also love black and white, the contrast between the two. I paint pictures in values of gray starting in very high-minor key and then apply the colors in transparent layers until I get down into extreme low-major key. I love contrast and colors.

Cobalt blue, blue denim, turquoise, emerald green, royal purple, chocolate brown, and black. This is true especially for clothing.

In the home, I always like a blue-and-white kitchen. I think this the cultural influence of Portuguese tiles. See: http://www.golisbon.com/culture/azulejos.html

I tend to like my living areas to have creams and beige tones. I live in an old apartment that has antiqued walnut stained wood about 4 feet up around the rooms as well as base-boards in other rooms of this color. I have my walls and ceiling currently painted Montgomery white which has a creamy pale yellow tone. The carpeting is a tweeded brown and white. I find this kind of color scheme very calming and relaxing.

My favorite colors are emerald green, hunter green, plum, and burgundy. But if pressed to pick one color I went with green in general.

I love all shades of purple. That's a combo of blue & red, which explains why I like blues & pinks/burgundies as well.

Being an artist also, I having a very difficult time picking just one color! I went with yellow, but no crayon yellow for me, more of a golden yellow to yellow ochre.

Just now, I have a thing for orange. I also like all shades of purple, as well as blue. I like all colors, really.
