I found this IOU to Lizzie in the January, 1994 LBQ. It was on the last page of Robert Bloch's story (which I enjoyed!).
It looks like Lizzie loaned Frances and Chester Gardner $2,000 in 1910. Were they cousins of Lizzie?
Who is John L. Borden? It says it's endorsed by him, but I don't see his name anywhere.
This is neat! They had to make their payments to Charles Cook. I don't think that's Lizzie's signature on the IOU, but on the back it looks like it.
Oh, there's John Borden's signature on the back.
I wonder where this paper is now. I found it fascinating.
