Remember when...

Post by Steveads2004 »

that wacky Fall River Historical Society had us all believing there was a new book about Lizzie and Parralell Lives was coming out? Ha ha that was a good one! I was even planning it as a Christmas gift...then a birthday gift...then an Arbor Day gift...then well you get the idea...Those jokesters!!

Yes Steveds2004.

I can completely sympathize with your frustration.

I have voiced myself on this issue several times to the ears at hand. How the criticism has been received, I can only guess.

I think the problem with the FRHS was announcing to early. Sort of diving into the pool before it is filled.

But in their defense, this was a venture of discovery with new found information, facts and scoops pouring in by the week. Every time the book neared completion a new chunk of information was discovered, one pertinent to the book and its content; the presses halted and the information worked in. This sort of think can take time, especially when you are almost finished and some more story filters down from unexpected sources. In many cases research must be done on the new material to verify its authenticity. From what I understand it is all about getting it right. Thus, perhaps they should have waited for all the research to be completed before announcing.

I'll cut them the slack..........but waiting is very discouraging.

Until then, there are countless books on the market with the title Parallel Lives. Here's one below.

No one named LIZZIE in it though.

I can sympathize with them. I have a genealogy book to be published, but everytime I think I have all the information I need, something else comes along and of course it HAS to be added to the book. It's not like it's a novel they are publishing. I'm sure that once it's published, it will be worth the wait!

Meanwhile while we wait for parallel lives to be published maybe the FRHS can reprint more copies of the Knowlton Papers to keep us satisfied.
