A New Year and a New Look to The Lizzie Borden Society Forum

The Lizzie Borden Society Forum has been up and running since December 1, 2003. Eleven years is a long time in internet life.

Our membership has grown to a whopping 769 users. While not nearly all of these folks post, they do lurk and read the wealth of information and conversations relating to the Borden murder case of 1892, Fall River, Massachusetts, and Victorian America. You can too!

We have many members who post regularly that have been with us since the beginning. It is heartening to have such loyalty. These individuals are experts on the Lizzie Borden case and we all learn from their body of knowledge. We are still learning, all of us, as new information and discoveries are unearthed. The recent bequeath of the Andrew Jennings notebooks (Lizzie Borden’s lawyer) to the Fall River Historical Society is a case in point. They have plans to release them in book form sometime in the near future. I am sure that they will provide the group with a plethora of new information and issues to discuss and debate.

The Lizzie Borden Society Forum has levels of participation whereby the more you post the more features you have access to–including a private area that is not seen by the guest, lurker, or those with a small number of posts.

One of the reasons we have endured where other forums have failed is that we are, for the most part, cordial to one another. We respect each other in ways that welcome participation. When members get testy or obnoxious, they are warned to cease this behavior. When they do not, they are banned. We wish to create and maintain a safe environment for people to feel comfortable. Because of this attention to the safety and security and comfort of members, we have endured.

We have had our share of trolls and fake identities and people who come onto the site just to badmouth me or other members. But those folks are quickly discovered and given the heave-ho. We believe that if we all agree to behave, then we can have the forum we all want—a lively discussion of both facts and opinions.

So why don’t you stop by and give us a look-see? You might be quite glad you did!

Mondo Lizzie Borden, Episode 7: NOT Lizzie Borden

Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.

Here we go. Enjoy.
