Christy Igo, actress, plays many historical women in her one woman shows. Recently, she appeared at the Garst Museum in Greenville as Lizzie Borden.

GREENVILLE – Nearly 100 visitors came to Garst Museum on Sunday to see a ‘Lizzie Borden: A life’ portrayed by Christy Igo.

Igo trained at Ohio University’s Professional Actor Training Program as well as at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She has worked professionally all over the North Eastern United States. She has worked in film, commercials and documentaries. She formed HerStory productions in 1999 to produce and perform original one woman shows about inspirational women from history.

‘Borden’ entered the room singing the infamous children’s rhyme from 1892, “Lizzie Borden took and axe; Gave her mother forty whacks; When she saw what she had done; She gaver her father forty one.”

Igo then went on to tell the story of the Borden family in the years leading up to the murders. In graphic, yet comical detail, she described the decapitation of both her father and step-mother and how they were each buried with their heads beside them.

Borden was found not guilty by a jury of her peers in 1892, but how the towns folk did not agree wih the verdict.

The Garst Lecture Series are free to the public, thanks to a grant from the HOPE Foundation and the Harry D. Stephens Memorial Trust.

Mondo Lizzie Borden, Episode 7: NOT Lizzie Borden

Being a collector of the weird and fabulous as it relates to the Borden case, I have files of these images saved during the past twenty years. And I would like to share them with you now. Laugh, gasp, chuckle, or rage, these photos were all on eBay. For a price. I used to write the sellers and let them know they didn’t have a Lizzie, but soon gave up on that practice. They didn’t care. Even though they were committing fraud by the sale of the image as a true Lizzie Borden. Oh well.

Here we go. Enjoy.
